finally got an s4

so after a few months of searching and finding either beat cars or ridiculous prices i finally am the proud owner of an s4
picked up from a person on audiforums heres the info tell me what u guys think,

2001 s4 clean carfax
69k miles
santorin 6sp
blue alcantara seats
sport package
timing belt water pump both changed
new clutch tires and brakes
opened the hood and when i took off the engine covers noticed the dvs were replaced with forge ones woohoo
all stock except for dvs tint and a greddy boost gauge
love the car extremely happy with it
oh and i paid 12 grand for it

if i am not mistaken, i am pretty sure that 12 grand was a great deal for that. i paid 11 grand for my black/black 2000 s4 with 108k miles on it (1 year ago exactly) and a bunch of stuff broken/messed up. welcome and grats on the purchase!

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I want to get a blue alcantara interior for my silver S4, just because the Silver and blue alantara would go well together.

i thought it was a 01.5 but to mee the dates didnt reallt match up. so i jus put 01. oh on a side note how do you take off the shift knob. i thought it was a screw off but it just slides off and then theres a piece of plastic i didnt figure out how to remove.

It should screw off. Are the threads stripped? Take a pic...

Is it just me or does that e-brake go REALLY high??

Mine only lifts 1-2 inches and 3-4 clicks and the car's locked in place...

It should turn off, the plastic piece turns with it.

Yea man you're right. Its an easy fix, get in there and tighten that e-brake! Your shifter throws are long as hell too! The shifter is at like 45 degrees! haa

Use pliers to turn the plastic piece off. That is supposed to be well-seated into the shift knob, but mine broke in this fashion as well.

Haven't yet but I imagine I'll use some kind of glue to affix the knob back onto the threaded plastic piece when the car's back together.

Sport Package S4's are desirable because of the alcantara inserts. It was an option that was offered with the car at purchase.

Congrats Joe and it's nice to know you aren't a lurker anymore. Good luck with the dmv and swing by this week. Hopefully I'll be able to detail my car sometime in the near future and we can pic whore her properly. That and if I get some free time from work, I'll help ya toy with her. great find! welcome aboard. i really like how the window switch trim is black instead of that cheesy blue plastic that you see on every other blue alcantara interior. Remember keep roughly a $5000 budget for her just in case the turbos decide to go on you. You don't want to get caught unprepared. : )

Nice buy! WELCOME! I myself am a new s4 owner to, traded my 330Ci a month ago for a01 s4...

Look into trying to figure out if they are the original turbos, if not plan on replacing them sometime (timing depends on previous owner/s). But you will love this car if you keep it in good condition and working order, it is a very versatile machine.
