Curious, Lancer Evo or Sti brake calipers work on A4's?

Do you guys know if the Brembo brake calipers from Sti or Evo will work on an A4? I don't think their rotors will work, just wondering about the calipers.

    Thanks

You could probably machine a caliper bracket to fit any caliper on an Audi (look at the Porsche caliper kits available online) but that doesn't mean the caliper was engineered well for an Audi application.

In a world where anything is possible...
...physically that idea is very difficult, and functionally it is not ideal.

The STI and EVO calipers are side mount or lug mount type calipers.
This means that the caliper itself already has a bracket type mounting point designed specifically for those cars suspension.

The Porsche calipers that are used more frequently by people trying to make their own brake kits are radial mount type calipers. Creating a bracket for radial-to-side mount is mush easier. It's an "L" style bracket that just changes the direction of the bolts and aligns the caliper (height and center line) to meet the position of the larger sized disc.

Creating a bracket for side-to-side mount is much more difficult to properly align, and also has some "shearing" issues due to the tolerances and braking forces on the bracket.

Besides the physical difficulties of making it all fit together, I did mention that the functionally it was not ideal either. The piston diameters in both of those calipers are not ideal for your application. The piston area is much to great for the Audi master cylinder which would affect both pedal feel and brake bias. Then again, many of the Porsche caliper kits on the market have the same problem.

That is why Brembo introduced a more economical brake package for the A4 that prices out within a couple hundred dollars of the Porsche style kits.

It's a complete 4-piston system with larger discs, braided lines, high performance pads, as well as the necessary mounting brackets and hardware. It's engineered around the OEM matercylinder, ABS and traction control and maintains optimum brake bias. It's only a couple hundred dollars more than most of the Porsche made kits on the market and, it offers much better build quality, with proper engineering, and better longevity.

There are quite a few Authorized Brembo dealers who advertise/sponsor this forum that could get you more information and and idea for actual cost.

    Great info as always Gary!

Ales, what year/engine A4 do you have? I could help with more info on the Brembo kit Gary has mentioned.
