I guess when the engine was put back in the hood latch cable wasnt fastenend all the way so now my latch has lots of play and the hood wont open... Any ideas what do to to pop my hood so i can fix my problem

    Edit: FIXED

Okay found the hood latch underneath, its a little hidden. Basically shine a light between engine and cooling fan. Right above the cooling fan you will see a black plug, that's the hood sensor. RIGHT ABOVE that plug is a metal pin which visually is hard to see. thats your hood latch release, i used a big pry bar and pushed towards the drivers side.. Voila hood open.

I had this happen to me. You need to pop the hood latch from underneath the car. I went to Home Depot and got a thin 3ft peace of metal, bent the end of it a little and popped the latch from underneath. You have to press decently hard to get it to pop and make sure you are pressing on the right part. It's pretty easy once you are pushing the right spot.

where underneath do i look, above the clutched fan area? i see the cable and ball joint and the end of the cable, it popped off and now hits the cooling fan. But where do i push and do i push up towards the hood or towards the drivers side?

There is part of the latch that hangs out that you have to push straight up. It helps if there is another b5 around for you to take a look at or I had a friend look on his and describe it over the phone.
