15 min rear seat removal DIY

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I found a very fast way to take off the rear seats.
you won't hurt your hand, you won't go nuts with limited space.

    the lower portion
of the rear seat is easy, pull them up and hear two popping sounds. unplug the wire connectors and things. you are done with that part, take it out of the car.

    the upper portion

fold down the seats, you will see a Torx screw as shown below in the picture
it's between the two pieces of the upper portion seat

you can use a T27 or T28 to unscrew that. after the screw is out, wiggle the metal out piece.

then, raise the center of the each seat and slide it out doesnt matter what order.

after that, it's straight forward. use 11/16 inch socket to remove the side bolts. I forgot the size for other torx scres and bolts.
the side pieces are easy so no need to mention them. straight forward.
or you can keep the stock ones. A4 is the same as S4

you will be done in 15 minutes.

put them back is everything in reverse.

tighten up the brackets on the car first WITHOUT the seats. then slide the seat in(while the seats face downward) and put back on torx screw in the picture.

Damn, I didn't think someone would need a write-up for removing seats. Pretty much all rear seat cushions pop out and rest is just looking for the screws that hold it in

If those people cant figure it out and need to read about it first they shouldn't be using tools at all.

    My next DIY write up.

    How to pump gas.

Very simple things like this just dont need a write up, even a quick search shows that there really hasn't been any people asking this question and this is most likely because those that need to remove their seats were able to figure it out on their own.

To add on to that, by the way you wrote it, I think you even made it more confusing

easy there people, at least the OP took the time to take a pic and post some sort of a write-up... but you've got to admit that for a DIY, it's kind of light on pics and detailed instructions...

so for those of us who really like step-by-step pictorials, follow me for the rear seats, and then if you wonder, follow me for removing the front ones...

thanks Steph, your DIY guide on front seat removal was so clear and instructive.

to be honest, I didnt know the easiest way to remove and put back the rear seats. I wasted a few good hours then I found out a way.

whatever the others say, I dont care
