If its unsprung then it wont act like a sprung. 100000000000% no reason to buy a unsprung clutch for a stage 2 or even 3... You will not like this style of clutch

Re: unsprung clutch disc with stock flywheel

i went with a southbend stage 3+ clutch with stock flywheel on my car. the clutch wasnt sprung but still feels more or less like stock. only real difference i can feel is a lower engagement point and that it holds better.

It helps that out stock flywheel is dualmass. On a regular flywheel I wouldn't use an unsprung disk on a street car.

Correct, being dual helps. What im saying is there is plenty of choices in a sprung hub that will hold what ever the average guy will throw at it.. I've had some unsprung discs and didn't like the feel or the chatter at all plus there was no way to slip the clutch either

I would agree. Just stating my experiences as in the title he said he was using a stock flywheel. With a LWFW you would definitely want to use a sprung disc. I could be wrong, but I am pretty certain that southben recomends a sprung clutch with a LWFW and almost exclusively recomends solid disks with the stock flywheel.

I run a solid hub clutch disc w/ a dual mass and it rocks. I wouldn't suggest it with a puck disc setup though. That would be pretty brutal. I didn't notice any harshness on my car with this setup. I chose the solid hub because the 1lb difference in weight. A local Audi pro recomended it because the amount of synchro issues 01e trannies seem to have. The reduced weight makes my car shift alot smoother than any other S4 I have ever driven. The UrS4s use a transmission that is pretty similar to ours, but they don't have as many synchro issues. They also run a solid hub disc.
