    B5 S4 turbo(s) work on a B6 A4?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    If i remember correctly on the B5 S4 it has a ko3(s?) and a ko4 right?

if it does have a k04 would it fit on my b6 a4? or is there a way to make it fit? if its even romotely posible my friend is really good with that kind of stuff.

but my question would be programming, is there any programming that would work decently with it?

got the turbo for free so i figured id ask

    Your car has a K03.

The s4 has K03s as well for the stock turbo but the outlet on them are different (they curve) instead of being straight to fit where the intercooler piping mates up to them.

Therefore they won't fit without getting the angle grinder out but even that's a wash...

All B6's have a K03s if I recall correctly. Only the non DBW B5's have a regular K03.

They will not fit period because the exhaust manifold does not even have the same flange.

yes, listen to Clint. Buy a 37 and tape it to your old manifold. no other modifications necessary

Sorry to revive this thread but what do you guys mean by getting a 37 and tape it to the manifold? This us my first turboed car but I learn quickly. I picked up a used k03 from a b5s4 to replace my blown k03 from my b6 1.8.t. So any help in mating the b5 flange to my b6 would be greatly appreciated. fyi, I picked up the one with the straight outlet off the turbine housing. I'm hoping the swap is still do-able with minimal mods. Thanks in advance.

Lol should have seen this coming...was hoping there was some kind of coupler (cheap fix) for exhaust manifold. I guess I will try to swap exhaust housings and see if that'll work.

I would have if I found something local...there was a good deal on a used one and read how similar they are so I thought I'd try my luck. Besides the k03 is just to hold me over till I finish piecing together my BT build and other tid bits that would help it along ;)

That's what I was thinking...glad you chimed in. I found a nice rebuild vid on youtube that I will follow and transplant the compressor and housing. Looks pretty straight forward. Just need to find torque specs for the bolts and get some assembly fluid...might as well clean out as much as poss to ensure longevity. I'm going to search (obviously) but if anyone knows the torque specs for shaft on compressor wheel and housing and...etc... it would be MUCH appreciated.

I have not read all this thread but this might have been said already. The B5 S4 turbo will NOT fit on the B6 A4. and the B6 A4 has a K03 not a K03s and same with the B5 S4. My brothers 2002 VW GTI 1.8T has a K03s from factory.... so you buying that turbo from the B5 S4 was a waste of money bc that will never fit unless you tape it or swap exhaust housings but i'm not 100 percent sure that will work either. Good luck

I did it and it worked fine. You have to get the correct side to do it. I believe it was the right side turbo. Swap the exhaust housings and clock it correctly and you are in business. Easy to do and mine was free so it was well worth it.

You my friend get a gold star for your info If by what you mean by "correct" is the housing that coils in one plane and not like a snake off to one side then sweet! (crossing fingers hehe) You remember how much you torque down the bolts too by chance? Want to get this done the following weekend. Since I'm going to change out the o-rings in my thermostat housing (leaking) might as well knock both repairs same day
