ALMOST TIME for 20" BBS RSGT's (give a boy some tire advice...)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Holla holla holla. Okay - I thought I was going to have to wait to put these babies on for awhile, but...continental 2's AMAZING treadwear might be helping to quicken it a bit.

I'm looking at tires after 11,000 miles, and I'm sort of getting ready to need new ones. Also, two of the 5 tires that came with the car have developed sidewall separation issues (i.e. it looks as if the side of the side wall is separation from the rim protector portion of the tire).

So, I've narrowed my search down, more or less, to the these guys. They are the highest quality for the best deal. I would love to throw on some yoko advan neovas or michelin pilot sports, but with the $, it ain't happening as of yet.

So, please, help me decide. If you have any other suggestions, feel free to throw 'em up. I figure I'd include some old pics to get the process rolling...:)

Any of those tires will be more performance than you could use with 20s but I would go with Nitto Invos.

I vote Vred's and the Nitto's second, they should be in your price range somewhat. That pic is still funny.

ya - the bbs's in the picture are going to be mounted. 245 should fit, and will give me slightly more of a sidewall than a 235/30/20

One of my sets of wheels has those BFG's on them and they are nice and grippy, and pretty quiet even under hard cornering. But as soon as you're on a wet surface... they suck balls, hard.. Like hydroplaning on every little puddle.

INVO's FTMFW! After 1 track day at the ROVAL, multiple canyon runs, 2 days of auto x, my INVO's still have about 35% tread left! As far as their grip level is concerned, for the price they can not be beaten!

    Enjoy Iggy!

Have you test fitted a 245/35 or 235/35?

Would the place you're getting them from be able to test fit? Sidewall on a 30 series is soooooo short.

Re: ALMOST TIME for 20" BBS RSGT's (give a boy some tire advice...)

I've heard great things about the Vreds. But I personally have the BFG KDWs and bought them in January 2007, about 12k miles ago. To this day they are like brand new, and I love them. My only complaint is that they are a bit "too sticky". .. Has to be the first time I've had tires that were too sticky and lasted a long time. Heck if you want I can even take pictures of them today and post them.. I imagine they will be good for at least another 12 -24k miles...

btw, I live in AZ and have only driven in the rain about 4x, no problems but not much experience with the kdws except on hot dry roads.. When it did rain I took a few 90 degree corners at high speed and they were rock solid for me, but I haven't had many other tires on this car to compare too.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone!

This eval was also really solid. kdw's look amazing and I know they're great on dry. Supposedly they're supposed to be solid in wet, too, but I know others have had the opposite occur. The only problem I've heard about a number of times is the noise comfort - are these guys loud?

Re: ALMOST TIME for 20" BBS RSGT's (give a boy some tire advice...)

KDWs are a great value, last forever and they perform very well but once the tread starts to get low they do get very noisy. I will probably replace them with Vredesteins in the spring.

Yes i Do... I have them in 245/30/20 ... they are awesome... I had a blow out due to how worn out they were (too lazy to replace), and the wheel was totally shredded. The sidewall stayed on the wheel preventing any wheel damage. These tires actually saved me lots of $$$$ from having to replace or repair a destroyed wheel!

Can anyone attest to rubbing issues of different 245/30/20 tires? I plan on lowering the car in the future...........

I know diff tires run diff widths - like, do the invo's run wide? etc?

my friend has those tires on his srt8 charger. He says they run pretty true to size and they don't have much sidewall bulge at all. Granted he is running 265/30/22s all around so I don't know how they would be in that tire size.

But yeah, I'm ashamed I go to the same school as you... socks and sandals booo.

(oh yeah, I can get you a deal on the invos if you really want them. I used to drive a s4 until it got stolen from usc)

C'mon...it was a sunday afternoon. It was cold in the house. And I put my sandals on to go outside.

A deal on invos would be great - I'm sorry to hear your car was stolen. How did that happen???? - the engine can't be turned on if the alarm is going off. guy must have been a pro.

I have been running that tire size of my Maya STM's for months and I only had issues when my entire car was packed up for school (7 hour drive). But other than that I haven't been rubbing and I'm probably lower than you will go (on Stasis SS). I'm roughly 25" ride height on front and back.
