    Let's hear it!

I'm sure this has been posted a bunch, but I need to try. Can someone explain the cone filter on the MAF (what that's all about and how to do it)?

And how can I get some sound out of the DV without changing the valve or putting in a CAI? I know it can be done, so any help would be great. Thanks everyone!

Don't quite understand why you're asking about the cone filter on MAF if you want dv sound without CAI. OK so the cone filter on the maf is more like a hot air filter, but lot's of people do it... and that's one way to get sound from your dv. Also running a piston dv in reverse position typically makes it wooosh more. If you want to retain stock air box, and want some sound, pull it apart and take out the sound deadening foam.

Lots of controversy i dont want to get into, bottom line is you wont gain power, you'll probly notice an increase in responsiveness and thats it. Also loud DV/BOV sound and louder turbo spool. For some its worth it for others its not.

i assume this is what you are going for... i did it a while ago, i doubt i gained any HP but it made throttle response 100 times better... lots of people say it makes it into a "HOT" air intake, but as long as you have a quality front mount it dosnt matter, your IAT's wont change. and if you are looking for the BOV sound, you will definitely hear your DV with a cone filter, or better yet, do as was stated above and get a piston style DV and install it in reverse operation and it will blow off load as hell. and ?'s shoot me a PM

Can someone take a pic of the cone filter on the MAF? I just kinda want to know what kind of filter to get, where to get, and where it goes. Sorry for all the ??'s and thanks.

    Re: Let's hear it!

Yes, but you might notice slightly lower power than with an FMIC because the air won't be cooled as much when it enters the cylinders

when u attach the fliter to the maf u just use a hose clamp correct cuz i know it suppose to bolt into the oem airbox so a calmp will work right?

    Re: Let's hear it!

hmmm don't know, a silicone or rubber coupler of some sort might be necessary but it won't be expensive.

cause the maf housing and filter base are both plastic so i don't think you could directly connect them.

i'm thinking of tearing out my airbox and adding a cone filter this week... it's not hot in AZ anymore so it should be just fine til i can make or buy a heatshield
