If you have air bags just make sure to unplug the battery before disconecting the wires. Otherwise, be prepared to pay $$$ to replace the air bags.

False, you don't need to remove the battery. I've done that many times as well as remove the steering wheel with out removing the battery. I guess better safe then sorry, but I hate losing radio presets.

the airbag module computes a variety of conditions in order for the bag to deploy. disconnecting the airbag is not one of them. A car is not going to deploy its airbags if one of the connections is not solid and intermittently disconnects and reconnects.

    true.

however the computer just sends a voltage to the air bags, and they deploy. So depending on which system, the air bag sensor(front bumper, or movement sensor) is triggered, and sends a voltage to the air bags to deploy.

The dangers of disconecting the wires with the battery on is getting a voltage sent to the air bag. The ECU has no business on triggering the air bags. Of course, you can play around it without issues, but one day you may have to pay the price.

Sorry to be out of topic here. I work in a body shop, and seen many accidents and specially on malfunctioning systems.
