too many people on our trip this year and the helis in the US are small. Gotta go to Winston's favorite place (or interior BC) if we want to get a heli with a larger group.

Man, you've got it all backwards.

I live at 9,000 feet and snowboard at 14,000 feet 3/4 of the year. I'll take that over a boring old beach any day! Plus, I actually get to use my Quattro.

and breck too lol. last time i was there a couple people died in an avalanche the day after i went. really i didn't like it because it was way too mild (catwalks are lame when you're on a board and hit traffic lol) and crowded. a-basin was by far the best riding i did in that area of colorado, favorite mountains ever were in utah.... although i really wanna hit banf and hood at some point in my life

Last time I went boarding, I went down some terrain that had an avalanche an hour later. It is no fun hiking up 200 yards of a mountain to be turned away because of avalanche danger... then all you hear is detonation of explosives the rest of the day.


But... wayyy up North, near the Canadian boarder...that VT and ME snow is just too much fun.

I feel you though, Breck is just a lot park terrain too and I'm more of a freeride guy myself. Vail is where it's at for that. I love A-Basin too though, it opens in October and has stayed open as long as July in previous years. Can't beat that!

I really want to hit up Utah sometime. I hear the powder there is amazing.

what are you 80? Who doesn't love the winter?? Snow, snowboarding, and well that's all you need in life. And the other best part is you get to drive your car and have fun in the snow before you even start the snowboarding! Unless you surf, the beach is boring. I live 2 minutes away from the water and i have all my life. It's really nothing special. It looks good, but you can only look at it for 5 minutes before you want to leave.

I raced USSA u-18 in high school and ACA while in college. When I turned 21 I was registered with the USST and the FIS and was ranked in the US as an amateur. I've also placed in the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge and I currently race in the A league for Nastar with my hospital team.

You didn't go to the right places in Colorado, this is why I have snowmobiles. I hate crowds and love powder. The southern resorts are better than the central resorts IMO. Just too many weekend gapers up in the Brek area. My bet is A-basin opens next week. I'm taking a day off work and hitting it up. I can't wait, I'm fvckin jonesin... Oh, and Alaska FTW! Going up there this April for 2 weeks. All I have to pay for is gas for the chopper.

Monarch had record powder last year, and a bigger base than any other resort in CO. It was truly amazing.

Sounds like fun! Although I just don't see the fun in skiing in the East. I can bomb down 3,000 vertical feet in two minutes, then hit up powder the next run. Best of both worlds here. O yea and they call it Sun Valley for a reason. But i do need to venture over to Colorado!

No, unfortunately it was a Subaru Outback (next best thing). 10x better than my buddy's Tundra which the girls took. That was one very long drive over to Breck 25mph most of the way (after flying out from Philly the same day).


Jordan. I am envious. AK w/ heli is the epitome! I can't swing that in addition to going to India for a mtb race in one year.

Baker and Stevens are places I still need to get to. We were planning a Pacific NorthWest trip this winter but I got over-ruled so we're going to Utah.

that kicks ass! My cousin lives in colorado so i actually visit there! You just made me so happy by saying colorado. And Baker is bigger than steven's and cheaper, they also get more anual snowfall. But steven's is really nice and just this last season got some amazing snowfall. It was at least 6" of new powder almost every day. Best season they've had in a while. But baker still holds the world record for most snowfall in a season . But since steven's got bought out by the company who owns whistler they've been raising their lift prices in preperation for expansion. They have plans to extend the backside a ton and put in 4 new lifts on the backside, plus extend the front side terrain and put in i think another 4 or 5 lifts as well. This is all expected to start within the next 3 years or so. You can check out the plans on their website. So if you plan on making it to steven's it might be better to wait.
