Just curious, was thinking of finally modding and get some downpipes, how many people do have and what brand.

    How much did you pay?

from my understanding, test pipe are different from downpipe. Test pipe or high flow cat replace cat and what goes after the cat is considered our downpipe.

Not sure if this is different from tiptronic or manual. As I know some exhausts come with a downpipe

b5 a4s have a more restrictive downpipe (aftercat) than b6 or b7s. i still have stock downpipe but i turned my cat into a testpipe. it made a huge difference in spooling time. i would strongly suggest a testpipe over a downpipe but it would be optimal to do a full turbo-back setup depending on your long term goals for the car (BT, BAT, etc)

some exahust systems i.e. awe and milltek come with the downpipe already but if your looking just for a downpipe I heard labree makes a pretty good one i'm just not sure on how big the pipe is.

yeah mosts exhausts for our cars come with downpipes thats why i thought you were talking about testpipes. i know on my jetta i had to get dp and exhaust seperately, but i dont' think this is the case with our a4's.

Re: How many people have downpipes? Which one if so

if your manual, most exhausts do come with a downpipe..for tiptronic, you need to usually buy one. and as nsmith said, downpipe comes after the testpipe, testpipe bolts onto the turbo

a "turboback" exhaust for example, would have a downpipe.

ya you guys are right about the test pipe and then downpipe. i have a test pipe and also thought about getting a downpipe but realized that i wouldnt get much more sound or hp gains from it and if i ever buy a catback it will come with a downpipe so i would be wasting my money
