    Oil in Cylinder 3 / New B5 A4 Avant

I just found an A4 Avant 1.8T [for myself]. The silver one is my wife’s and now I have the hibiscus one. As I clean it up I’ll post information about progress and such. It needs a reasonable amount of work and does not run properly.

I’m interested in some help on my first problem… I have a noticeable amount of oil in cylinder 3 (and cylinder 3 misfire codes). If I start the car with a clean plug for only 15 seconds, the plug will look like it was just dunked in clean oil. Is there any specific problem that leads to so much oil in cylinder 3? I imagine either a head gasket or head work is in order, but I’d like to know what you know…

I noticed in Rosati’s writup here, there was noticeable fluid in cyl 3, but he never specified what his original problem or fix was.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Kevin,

I will take the appropriate steps to diagnose the problem. My question:

was to find out if there is a specific / common problem associated with the brief symptoms described in an effort to reduce the steps I have to take in diagnosing the problem.
