Took my car to get tinted, now my radio isn't working

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I took my car to get some tint and when I got it back I noticed that my radio wasn't working anymore. I'm not sure what the guy did (perhaps disconnected it for whatever reason). Everything else works. This is the stock Bose radio. When I turn my lights on the radio lights don't light up. There is power to the CD changer but that's of no use because I can't turn my radio on.

I haven't called the guy who did my tint yet since he has closed by now to see wtf is wrong but I figured someone could help me out so I can listen to some music while cruising tonight
Anyone know what could be the problem?

he probably disconnected your battery and you might need to reset it with the radio code

Did you try the fuse for the radio? The fuse box is in the side pannel by drivers door.

Only thing I can think of is that he disconnected your battery because he had your doors open for a while and didn't want it to drain. However, even if he did that, your radio should still light up and say "safe."

I haven't had my stock radio for a long time, so I don't remember if there's a button to turn it on and off?

I had a similar thing happen. My radio WOULD turn on, however the speakers were all wishy washy and scrambly. Turns out the water they use to tint the windows drips down into the speakers and screws them up for a couple days until they can dry. My headunit did however still "turn on."

When you open up your fuse panel on the inside of the fuse "door" cover it will have a diagram saying which one is the radio.

My door cover doesn't have that, but it is in my manual....so if you don't find it on the panel cover, look in your manual

Re: Took my car to get tinted, now my radio isn't working

ok, well, looks like it's a blown fuse BUT get this... I replaced the blown fuse with another 20a and when I turn the radio on I just get this weird loud noise. All speakers are at full power and you can't even turn the noise down. You can just shut the radio off to get rid of it. When you turn it back on the noise is still there WTF?!?!?!?

I didn't even get the "SAFE" message. When you turn it on it sais BOSE and then the noise comes...

ok, my car either has healing powers or I don't know wtf....
So I'm driving around town with no radio. I turn it on to see if the noise is gone, nope. I try this numerous times but the noise is still there. After about 2 hours of driving around I decide to give it another try and guess what....the radio is working perfectly again. lol...

I think there is a small fuse on the back of the radio if I rememebr right. Check that also. Maybe that is blown or close to it.

Did you by chance go with a metallic tint? Those can severely limit your radio reception. Maybe you're just hearing static, since you're not getting any radio reception.

Its fine man. Mine did the same thing, but my tinter had experienced this with the a4/s4 in the past and told me that it would probably happen. My radio worked, but when you turned it on youd get an insanely loud beep...sorta like getting feedback on a mic. It dried out after a couple days and it was fine after that.

yeah mine does the same thing, It's still kinda messed up though, mine "magically" never completely fixed itself, and now my cd changer still doesn't work at all. If I accidentaly drain my battery, I have found that the cd changer will work so i know he screwed up a ground somewhere when he did my TINT. Whatever....mine happened so long ago, I just use my GPS for music anyways, but my cd changer would be nice!

Well my S4 B5 had an issue with the radio not turning on. I noticed the fuse for the radio was blown. (driverside fuse box) Replaced it, but it still didn't work. After some research I realized there was another fuse behind the radio unit itself. Thing is, even w/ the keys I couldn't remove it. I realized that they were locked so after day number two and about hour number 6, I got pissed off and used a crowbar to "remove" it. (Video of radio removal techniques coming soon) After inspecting the radio I saw that the fuse on the back of the unit was blown.

i've heard of metalic tints messing up the antennas that are in the rear defroster, like our cars have.

    does it still play CD's?
