changing my Aux coolant pump saga

Okay I am going to change my Aux coolant pump in the next week. I went to the local audi place to get the bypass kit and after a week and half and 3 trips out to the dealer the part finally comes in. The guy who I dealt with getting the part was fired and the current person would not give me the price I had been quoted earlier. The new guy wanted $270 for the kit, fired guy price was $200. I didnt get the part and the new guy told me I couldnt order anything from them anymore unless I pre-payed, which I offered to do in the first place. long story short I ordered a pump off line for $85 and I am going to order the power gaskets for the intake today also.
Has anyone done a write up or is it pretty straight forward. I am going to do a modified bypass if I can and I will post pics and write up if I am sucessful. I am also going to time myself because I think Gigi and Daft had a huge time difference in their aux pump service in a previous post.

sorry about the whole dealership nightmare. So you got the regular under the Intake pump and nothing else right?

Yeah Daft and another guy sAid 6+ hours I think. My guy did it and another one on a 6spd in 3-4 hours
And I paid 3 1/2 hrs labor only for the pump and powergaskets install :-)
    My gu rocks.
He just opened his own shop in Charlotte "EuroWise" and charges only $69/he on all VG labor.
    Have a great day, Brice

Yeah I got the OEM bosch under the intake. When I get it off I am going to try to make my own bypass so it wont be so hard for the next guy.

Sorry to hear about that man. I wish you had told me you were having issues getting it. I could have hooked you up with the place where I got mine and they could have UPS'ed it to you.

Eitherway, I had started making a fully detailed procedure on the job but, got side-tracked with other stuff a while ago. I really need to finish it and get it posted online for others.

When are you planning on doing the job? Maybe I can finish the write-up before then?

I've seen the write-up on replacing the pump without removing the manifold and it's rather sketchy. It's very possible to make mistakes and even damage other parts if you're not careful. Besides, the non-intake removal style, does not allow you to clean up the mess under there. It's basically meant to rip out the old one and slap a new one in quickly. If you're picky about your car, it's not the desired method.

Yeah Daft I was going to PM ya about the guy that got yours but I ordered the stuff plus got the power gaskets right after I left the dealership. I still think I am going to try to re-route the pump and place it in a more accessable place. I should have all the stuff in middle of the week. I am going to start taken off stuff tommorrow night so I can clean it. My friends tell me I have a problem with my car stuff because I go crazy lengths to clean them, I have even been know to paint car rear ends and assorted engine parts. I will take pics and do a write up when I am finished I just wanted a little nudge before starting it blind.

Re: changing my Aux coolant pump saga

Well I finished my aux pump and power gasket install.... and guess what still have a leak. The pump was bad had leakage around it so it wasnt a waste of time. I got under the car and the leak was coming down near the exhaust manifold. I took off the battery cover and the plastic piece that goes along the front and found my second leak. I think it is the upper heater core hose. There are two pipes with hoses coming out of the fire wall and the upper one looks like an aortic dissection. Has anyone change one of these hoses?
My time doing the aux pump and power gaskets was about 2 1/2 hours if you minus all of the pause time for how the hell am I gonna do that!!!
