To say the least I've been ticket off with this things for a while with this "boost leak". Well here is the latest news. I realized that one of my O2 codes was for a front code, which I have been told can really affect your boost. Well my car has been in the shop getting the sensor put in (drivers side front, a turd!). Im glad that I took it to a shop to get done anyway, becuase they ended up having to retap the whole becuase of stripped threads, so Im glad that I didn't try to do it!!

They just called me and told it was done, so Im gonna be over there in a little bit and I can see if that helped.

Anyway, I had told him about my noise and boost issue and he said that he found that there is an O-ring near my MAF that is missing. That def sounds like it could be making the noise in the posts above!!!

So here is my question: Is that something that could affect performance much? Or is it just making noise?

I'll have to get specifics of everything once I get over there and see what I need to replace. But I'm really hoping that is all my problem is!!! Wish me luck!!!! Ill report back soon.

that would make sense, because you disconnect the maf when you do a pressure test.

I remember reading a post by Marc (10secs4) that your engine does not go by the o2s at full throttle.. only part throttle.... I cant remember where I read it though.

Well I got the car back and the new o2 made a little bit of a difference. I boost to around 9psi now (before was 7) but its still really sluggish to go into boost and of course its really weak becuase of only 9 pounds of boost.

The o-ring that is missing is pre-MAF so I don't know if that would affect much of anything at all. But if I get that rectified at least that dang annoying air noise will be gone!

Yeah I really dont get any missfires anymore since I turned my injectors a few months back. And idle is decently smooth.

if i were u i would now test your car with the 02 sensor fixed, possibly the stripped hole might have caused your car to make that noise so run your car hard and report back.

Re: The mystery might be solved!!!

I hope this really solves your issue, I think you've had a boost leak longer than I've been on these forums. Good luck, and if this doesn't specifically resolve the issue, hopefully now you can get some accurate information on what actually does cause it.
