Well i was down in kensington yesterday doing some reserch for a project. WHEn i was done i went down on queen to see reporters infront of a resturant. It was the one on tv that was shut down due to rats, Happy Seven. I caught a picture of the CLOSED health sighn on display. After looking closer i saw the disturbing TORONTO LIFE sticker underneth. I figured this definealy will fit in with those: FAIL pictures you see so often on forums.

LOL! Figures. Honestly....all those places should be closed in that area. Although, sometimes I believe the rats actually add to the flavour of the food!

    Yeah, that's right, I said it.......wut up?

From the first report on City...

The problem is that it's that whole block. Chinatown is just a mess after hours, it stinks with all the garbage on the sidewalk, and I'm surprised that there aren't more restaurants there closed (I think there are a couple that are closed and a couple more with a warning).

Just way too much trash being put out onto the curb everyday.

no, what it means is that the last time there was an inspection Oct 2 05, it got a pass. Now it was closed. What they had posed before was the old 05 pass that they revieced. Its scarrry but the palce hasent been checked in 3 years

Are you sure it was Oct 2, 2005 and not 2008?

The media mentioned that the health inspectors were just there a few days and they even said the same thing and didn't see any rats at the time of the inspection.

And yet another restaurant has been closed, Swatow. Not for rats but for cockroaches.

Speaking of these suckers, eating dinner at a restaurant in Louisiana. See a cockroach scurry on by. I look at it, tell that to the coworker, and we just keep on eating lol. It's pretty hard I guess to keep all of those critters out of the restaurant when they're everywhere down there.

Hmm so listening to edge 102 this morning and they mention that the Swatow was closed but for the WRONG reasons... that it was closed down because of the rat problem when in fact it has nothing to do with rats. Sigh.... the media needs to get their information right.

    Re: Saw this yesterday (funny)

Speaking of rats, blogto has an article on the 'the 12 most likely rat-free restaurants'. lol.

    http://blogto.com/toronto/lists/the_..._in_chinatown/

    88 Restaurant
    Laksa
    Asian Legend
    E-Pan
    Queen's Patisserie
    Xe Lua
    Ka Chi
    Rol San
    Furama Cake and Desserts Garden
    Noble Restaurant
    Shima
    Kim Moon Bakery

Didn't know Pho Hung was one that had an incident in the past... will I still eat there? Yep.

In the end, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the restaurants in the Chinatown/Kesington area have at least a rat wander through looking for things to chew on.

    Yeah happy seven's garbage...

Couple buddies of mine went there coz Rol San was packed after a club.. Anyway, so ordered food... Food came and there was HAIR in it... We sent it back.. New dishes came and lo-and-behold, there was STILL HAIR in the food..

So we said we're not paying for anything coz it was ridiculous.. And they said "FINE!, you no pay, you get out now! leave leave! go go!"

    LOL

    Re: Saw this yesterday (funny)

I hate saying this but that's typical chinese service. We were at Din Tai Fung Dumpling House this past weekend and ordered a dish. 15 minutes we have everything else but that, fine no worries. 30, 45 minutes go by. I don't want the dish. They say it's being made. 60 minutes they see me looking at them and they come by and saying it's coming, I repeat I don't want it. We get the dish five minutes afterwards. The others didn't really want to approach them but screw that, I get up talk to the manager and argue with her for a bit and she agrees and doesn't charge us. I dunno, these places could learn a few things from other big-name restaurants....
