i bought a k04 and the turbo seems to be bad. its too small anyway. im using this as an excuse to put on a gt2871r and do this right.

i cant seem to figure out how the turbo inlet is going to work....

    anyone have some ideas?

what has worked for those of you with big turbos?

anyone have any pictures? (this would be awesome)

    thanks so much guys!!!!!!!!!

Re: need help on making/finding BT inlet pipe

Do you have the gt2871r on the car yet? Does it have a 3" inlet?
I do work around the South East on your 1.8t or 2.7t, PM for more info

Re: need help on making/finding BT inlet pipe

If you get an Eliminator turbo, you can use a Neuspeed Turbo or the ATP inlet.....if you go with a full GT2871r with either a T25 or a T3 flange, you'll have to make a custom inlet. I run a full turbo, and I made my inlet with a 3" 90degree bend to a 3" hardpipe custom hard pipe (with ports for vacuum and my catch can welded in) to a 3" filter......if you want your BT build to be a simple process, go with an Eliminator (i wish I did)

Skip on the ATP 3" inlet for a elim, the Neuspeed is the better way to go.

Then you just want to make your own using a 3" 90 deg bend and 3" pipe, half the nipples you need welded to the pipe.

To give you an idea, here is the ATP kit that uses a 3" inlet.

that picture would be backwards for a longitudinal. also there are no provisions for Dv, n75 (if you want to use it), whatever that 1/4" vac line is, and the PCV......

Yeah they just reversed the picture of the parts before adding the words. Correct, if you want to run those things back like stock then yes you would need to make that yourself.

If someone made a TIP for the 2871r with a ATP mani they would be rich right now. I need one too! I custom welded the pieces on a 90 degree 3" pipe but i'm having problems fitting it under/over my headlight and the huge 4" filter.

3 inch aluminum bend cut on the tangent has been working for me. then just tap into it with a piece of 1" aluminum tubing for the dv. Cost me about 40 for the bend, 40 to get it welded, and 60 for the maf and filter

Wont work for the ATP manifold since it puts the turbo up between cylinders 1 and 2, where yours is back further giving you more room in front of the turbo.

Yeah true. To make it fit over the headlight it's going to be a pain in the butt. I currently have mine pointing straight down between the engine and the radiator but that is not optimal for puddles.

I think that using the ATP 90 degree piece with another 90 degree silicone coupler and a 45 degree coupler you could pull it off. That is what I came up with while test fitting anyway.

Heres an overhead picture with the ATP mani

Your best bet would be to do as Mike said, use a 3" elbow off the turbo facing downward, then add a short piece of aluminum pipe which has all the appropriate connections you want/need. Then the MAF and filter afterwards. Or you could make it easier, remove all those things and put a filter right on the turbo. Keep in mind when running a MAF on a custom TIP, you want to keep it approx the same distance away from the turbo as from the factory
