    Exhaust and cat question

This about the 1.8t 6spd manual.

Where is the cat on our exhaust system?

Is it up right off the engine/turbo?

I was looking under my car and noticed I only see the resonators and mufflers but there has to be a cat so is it up inside the engine bay more before the down pipe?

    Now part 2.

Can we run a test pipe or will that throw codes? Will getting the APR 1+ chip allow me to run a test pipe if I wanted without throwing codes?

I assume there's an O2 sensor in the cat so does anyone make test pipes for our cars that have the place to attach the O2 sensor?

There's no inspection in my state so not worried about legal issues since it is not an issue here.

    Re: Exhaust and cat question

right after your turbo is the turbo downpipe which contains your 1 and only cat. Yes there are test pipes for the car and yes it would cause a CEL unless you tricked the o2 sensor. Theres an o2 before and in the back of the cat. If you were to get the APR+1 and the test pipe, it would help you more than the APR+1 and stock cat. A full exhuast would help you alot too, as well as a Diverter Valve

search, this has been covered a million and one times over. now we just have another thread and the same topic making it harder for the people that do search to dig though and find what they need.

So the downpipe has the cat? If I were to get the AWE Tuning exhause it says it comes with a full 2.5" downpipe. Does this eliminate or contain a high flow cat of some kind or does this attach to the cat?

That is what I'm confused about. I've never modded a turbo before. Will I need to get a test pipe to eliminate the cat with the AWE Tuning exhaust or is it a full turbo back?

I have a Forge 007 DV already installed and high performance drop in filter. Those are the only mods so far.

I'll probably get exhaust next then the chip/injectors after that.

I did search and there's a million threads and I read through a bunch till I started getting a headache and I just wasn't finding the specific answers I needed.

    Re: Exhaust and cat question

Yeah, the AWE exhaust comes with a turbo downpipe which replaces the cat. The only problem is is that its a 2.5" downpipe. If you wanted to do more to your car later than just APR+1, you would want that to be bigger than a 2.5"

Let me know if you would be interested in a fully loaded ECU (8E0 909 518 AK) apr1+ with TT225 injectors for cheap. Installing BT in early spring with REVO, APR said all is needed is immobilizer deafeat file. Don't need a stock ECU trade either.

    Re: Exhaust and cat question

Ok cool thanks I'll let you know.

I don't have any cash now but maybe I'll pick that up off you instead of the exhaust when I get the cash and sit on it till I get they exhaust and do one big upgrade when I get everything in.

Since the AWE exhaust replaces the stock and down pipe is their exhaust all set up to accept the O2 sensor and will their exhaust create any problems throwing a code on stock or chipped ecu?
