    Thinking of blowing 6grand...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have been reading all the ko4 posts vs. the GT kit posts. I love the idea of the GT kit but dont know if i really want to spend the money. So my question to all is if i have about 6 grand to blow give or take couple hundred. What kit would all of you recommend?

The other thing is since i live in NE Ohio, there are no tuning shops nor do i have the time to take my car anywhere due to my buisness. What programs are the best that i can just pop and will have the best tune for the setups that are recommended . I am thinking of doing something within the next month, so all opinions and recommendations are welcome.

Right now i am thinking of doing the VAST setup, but again i am fairly new with the turbo stuff. My old car i had a aftercooled vortech system on my SI, so with two snails this is basically new to me!

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: Thinking of blowing 6grand...

Id buy a set of blown ko4's, and turn them to hybrids. dp's, custom catback, apr side mounts, or even IPP, and a nice suspension and brake setup, but thats just me..

    Id prolly do the following..

    ko4/997 hybrids
    Seimens 60lb
    piggies
    Custom cat with cutout
FMIC (for cheaper cost then sidemounts)
Custom EPL or Vast, Remote tune *(due to the location)
    Vogtald Gt C/O
and a nice set of brakes if you have money left over.

buttttt If it were truley me id just buy a bike :). Faster, More fun, and gets more chicks

IMO, coming from someone who has been around this for awhile.. Id go with the bike first.. Had I have gotten a bike before I bought all of the STGIII crap, it would of been alot different..

Luckily I got all of my stuff for a steal so I ended up making money on everything but thats not your average case. Buy the bike in the winter when they are selling at the lower price. Get a power commander, Go up 2-3 teeth in the rear, and down 1 or 2 in the front, throw on a nice set of tires, Full exhaust, and a nice intake on it and have it dyno tuned.. It will be a screamer..

GT's will cost way more than $6k so I would go with an ots ko4 kit with your budget.

    how much is wasy more?
didnt guru man have a set for sale in the classifieds for near that price? I understand there is extra cost in tunning, the clutch ect. IDK what genjdm is selling his base kit for. I think I have seen people run there gt's on a stage 3 tune, wich i have seen plenty of those in the classifieds

    Re: Thinking of blowing 6grand...

The turbos alone for a gt kit is around 6 grand. Then you need fueling, tuning, clutch and rods. You are looking at an easy 10 grand. It will be fast as hell, but beyond your stated budget.

    Re: Thinking of blowing 6grand...

op what ever you do dont go directly to a vendor and buy brand new everything. vast is the cheapest (and almost the best) and its still too much. lots of people on here sell stage 3 fueling all the time.
and you can get k04's used and rebuild or get them new

    Re: Thinking of blowing 6grand...

heres my serious advice, save up 2 grand more and buy genX's stuff...not trying to kill a thread but if you go on AZ, this is a very common question that is all dependent on the money you have, but the prices and product rarely change! so why cant you do any cross referencing!? OK, no more debbie downing over here, go fast and have fun man:)
