How much do you think I should offer them? I was thinkin of offering them 1/2 of their asking premium which is about 4k... There's no way i'm paying that much over MSRP... I can order one now for Jan delivery for MSRP from a local dealer if I want... which is my second option.

Hmm.. you would have to ask yourself if paying an extra 4G (assuming they go for your offer) is worth saving you 3 months of waiting.

I would go with the Jan delivery personally. You missed the warm weather anyway no point in being in a hurry.

you can get a nicely specced M3 for around 62K
they are selling at invoice in most areas for an 08
since the 09s will be here very soon

S5 is so much more sophisticated looking to me. BMW has gone very "ACURA" with the look of the M3. I loved all the M3's right up until this one. Dont get me wrong, the current M3 is not a bad looking car, just has a rice-rocket look to it.

Also as a recovering mod-a-holic, there are fewer parts available for the audis so that should slow you down a bit.

I would probably order one if I were in your position. The S5 seems to be a car that has a lot of people interested.....the kind of people who will pay over MSRP to have the latest and greatest.

Chances are, the dealership will politely decline your offer and wait for someone who will pay their asking. Last I checked, there are only (2) available automatic S5s in SoCal so they may wait for their asking price.

Actually it's more about the looks and Quattro since the interior is also much nicer.

Easy...I had a kid and needed a 520hp 4 seater....plus its only considered a "downgrade" when you do it within the same car manufacturer So going from an M5 to a S5 is not a "downgrade" but a change in scenery....But going from an M5 to an M3 is a no no...

Don't pay over MSRP. Wait for a couple weeks and then on the last day of the month, call them and offer MSRP. Audi has SIGNIFICANTLY upped the allocation of these cars, and they aren't going to be sold at a premium much longer
