Need assistance on Front Left Axle

I went out to my vehicle to do an oil change, and what do I see?

I am sure this happened maybe today or yesterday. So, I caught it early. My question is, does anyone know of a DIY write up for replaceing the boot and which one to order? http://www.purems.com/products/produ...p/pn=2/CA=1481. And any tips for performing the replacement?

    Thanks in advance!

Edit: Ok, I found the DIY, but would still want confirmation on which one to order. Thanks!

Dude, outer CV boots are cake if you have air tools.

OP, you need to replace the outer CV boot. If you're hearing a noise (clunking) during turns @ or near full lock, you should replace that joint. If no noise, just replace the boot and obviously add ALL the supplied lube with it.

I am sure it just happened recently, as I did not notice any clunking. I would have eventually though. I only noticed it as I was under the car. But yeah, no air tools. I ordered the boot as I am sure that is all that will be needed. I am about to go to Sears and pick up some sockets I will need for the task, but air tools (impact gun) would def be nice. And a big *** compressor.

That's what your Sears Mastercard is for right? Speaking of I owe them moneys.

Depending on the year your axle bolt should be either a 14mm or 17mm allen. I pull the lower rear control arm out at the subframe (works great as a lever to pull the spindle away from the axle) and leave the inner joint attached. A good blow with a hammer should knock the joint off, or you can thread the old axle bolt back in and it SHOULD pop the joint off. (didn't work for me on an S6 awhile back).

Sears has like a 23% interest rate for anything placed on thier card. That's nuts. I applied for the card a while ago just because it saved me like $10 on a purchase. But I dare to ever use that card.

But I came across 2 write up and one has it where they remove the entire axel (AW) and the other has the axle still attached (AZ). I am thinking I can just do it with the axle still on the vehicle, as less work is usually better (strange how that usual has a role with comparing less and more work for an easier task). But if I do not have enough room to remove the joint, I will just take the whole thing off.

But I have a concern. There is a good amount of grease around (and on) the ABS sensor, and I know I will need to unplug it to work. Is it ok for me to spray it with de-greaser prior to unplugging it? As I don't want to end up spending more money for a new sensor.

Just wipe it off with a rag, it's not necessary to get it spotless.

23% if you miss a payment, 17% if you're on time. I generally pay it outright at the following paycheck, but I had other needs for the money. Control arms and other BS. I like using credit cards and paying it off before they even bill me.
