35% in NYC asking for trouble?

I plan to get my car tinted 35% but not sure how often i will get harassed by the cops. Do you NYC guys get harassed or pulled over for tint being too dark?

Anyone have any good tint shop in brooklyn they can recommend and how much?

It all depends on the cop(s). My avant is 35% up front and 20% in the passenger and cargo compartment and so far no trouble. I used: www.theartoftint.com Tom did an amazing job.

i have 35% tints, and have only been pulled over once in nyc in the last 2yrs. It really depends on the cops, but most could care less imo.

i just got a ticket for my tints. they came up 28%. that was on 42nd street. the cop was an ass but other than that, they dont care about the euros. i'll just tell them its the auto dimming feature.

Don't drive in Staten Island gentlemen. They'll give you seperate tickets for each window. I'm up to nearly a G on no front plate alone in the year I've had my car.

no front plate is a different story than tint

ive been rocking 20-35% tint for 6 yrs + never had been pulled FOR tint

just remember, if they pull ya for something else, its just another ticket for ya

I have 30%, but i have light interior so it doesnt look to dark, only been pulled over once so far and im having them tinted over again to go darker

i hadnt been bothered until recently but im in westchester ny, now i get pulled over prob once a week when im home..mine are 35% but come up to 29% on the tint-o-meter haha.. the cops know my name by heart now grr.

sheeeet I'm in bedford/ mt. kisco/ pound ridge all the time now... maybe they won't pull me over with my CT Plates

Brooklyn here.. been rocking the 35% all around for about a year.. never got a ticket for tint.. but i'm a weekend driver... on day time i usually pop the sunroof when a cop is near.. 35% with the sunroof.. it's like clear glass.. but the thing is it depend on the color of your car.. white or sliver tent to make the tint more noticeable..

I always thought that if i get pulled over ruding the day, i would open a few windows and sunroof to let in more light, and at night turn on the light so they could see in from the outside.

i had two tickets on my girl's car, one for each side of the front windows.. she had 5%,, the judge drop the ticket because the car wasn't mine. but he did NOT dismiss the tickets.. so the ticket got reduce to 15bucks each.. but then i have to pay for court fee which is about 35bucks each ticket.. a total of 90bucks... they get you somehow...

Just remember that the car comes stock with an extremely slight tint. I think its like 95% or something really really weak.

Wow this thread is still alive. I ended up going with 35% and so far so good. Although i was riding in a friends car the other night and he got ticketed with 35% on his 530I.

We didn't even get pulled over, it was a road block check point. $100 per each of the 2 windows.

Stop beating a dead horse. it's like asking "If i smoke a blunt walking down the street is it asking 4 trouble? " Sure if the cop is bored, chances are no but you will be banged out on the reguluar though.
