You can not just plug the facelift headlights into the prefacelift chasis. You have to cut the fender. And no, there is no avoiding it. Here is the write-up on it. But there are a few things not needed on that thread along with some missing pics. There is no reason to remove the front bumper other than fear of damaging it (cutting into it, hitting the paint and chipping it, or dinging it with the sawzall). What pic is missing is painter's tape placed around the headlight housing as not to damage the paint on the fender while cutting.

Just take your time while cutting and you can make a perfect fitment. Don't cut too much. Cut little by little to you get it just right (you can cut trim off, but not add on). Take your time with it. When done, make sure to use spray paint around the area you cut (and allow to cure) as to avoid rust before you install the headlights. I am no painter, but I am sure there is a rust protective primer, use OEM color (there is a web site, but am too lazy to search for it right now that has perfect matching paint), and clear coat.

Re: valeo projector headlight quick question

I had that same problem with my Valeo US spec to Ecode swap. The connector was different for the US spec and Euro spec. I ended up usiing my US spec turn signal socket, and the 3 guides did not line up perfectly with the Ecode housing. What I did was dremel one of the guides off, and have had no issues as of yet. 2 of the guides will line up and 1 will not. That is the one I dremeled off.
