What's Missing Under the Hood?

I had some (A/C) service performed recently and, after getting the car back, noticed a vacant spot under the hood (arrow) that I hadn't noticed before. What belongs there? Anything?

I was told that on some models (not mine) the spot is occupied by an auxilliary brake booster. Another Audi mechanic told me a 'cap' goes there and that there is some sort of additional fastener for the circled component. My (new) mechanic says nothing is out of place ...

Anyone know?

The car is an 05 A4 (B6) with the 3.0L V6 6 speed MT.

If you had an automatic eqiupped A4 then something would be there. I can't recall what it is.

yea, i asked the same thing a while ago. it's something for automatics, so if you're a manual ur fine.

It just bugs me, though, when techs (esp. "factory trained" techs) forget little stuff like this.

That is where the Caneuter Valve was... Just kidding. There is nothing missing. If you buy the cover off the S4. It will cover that right up. I did and had it painted. It lools super sweet!

I don't recall a cover being there. Mine is open like that and came like that from factory.

I was jsut freaking out about this yesterday. I just got my car and sent it in to be tuned. When I got it back I was like "waaaaaa where my shits be at". So I compared it to my buddys (automatic) b5 a4 and there is a small cylinder with a tube leading from it to the back of the engine bay. It taps into a hose coming from the intake. Guess it is just an automatic giz-whitchee. Read that makes a great spot for the DO water/meth pump.

I think your best answer would be to go back to your tech dude and tell him "where the fuck is my whatever the fuck goes in that hole at?" Then maybe just maybe he'll put the cylinder back into your hole..

I have some kind of plastic bracket that holds that thing circled in red IIRC. Nothing in that hole though (manual)
