    DV making sputtering noises

Well the title explains my question. Every time I shift gears, instead of the typical "whoosh" sound, I get a sputtering sound from the dv. Then once the engine is warmed up, it goes back to the normal whoosh sound..and the sputtering magically dissapears! Can someone give me some insight on this?

yea i checked for any loose connections..everything seems ok to my best knowledge. It never had a problem before, just happend recently. And like I said earlier the strange thing is, the sputtering only happens when the engine is cold, once it warms up its perfectly fine.

Needs lubed IMO. How long have you had it installed.

Lubricate the bore and moving parts lightly w/ synthetic high temp grease (Mobil 1, etc) once per year. Period.

buy an R1, no maintenance at all, diaphram based.

Less than stellar performance in the TT world (AW) reported using the R1. No personal experience, but I've avoided them.

Diaphragms tear (ask your GF!) and require maintenance just as much as pistons and o-rings.

R1 requiring maint.? I dont think so, and are we talking about the same R1s that are also used on 700hp+ Porsch 996TT's?

Yes - the ones that at least 6 or 7 TT owners that I know of have sent back to APR for new springs and even then couldn't get rid of the honking issue. I'm a big APR fan - but the DV isn't one of the items i'd be the least bit interested in. I've run Forge DV's since 1998 on all my 1.8T (6 of em) - so you have to lube em ever 5k - takes about two minutes. They always hold boost and they rarely if ever fail and they don't honk.

(kindly) what we think is not born out by what we observe. Can't explain it, but "it is".
