    93 ocatne gas anywhere?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi, I was living in the States; however, I recently moved to Toronto.
I used to pump 93 to my A4 since I have a 93 program on it. However, I'm having hard time findint 93 here in toronto.

Is there any place I can find it?

By the way, I'm located at Yonge and Sheppard.

wychoi36, the closest Sunoco for you is east of where you are on Sheppard Avenue. If I remember correctly, the Sunoco is just east of the 404/DVP overpass and will be on the south side of Sheppard.

Pretty sure octane ratings are calculated differently in USA and Canada. 94 is the best you can get here but I don't know how it compares to your 93

    Re: 93 ocatne gas anywhere?

sunoco is the only (widespread) place to get fuel over 91 octane - esso, petrocan, shell all top out at 91.

i used to have a WRX, and it was recommended 93 as well - get a sunoco points card (you only get points for buying Ultra94), trust me - i won 100,000 points (the equivalent of $100) just for filling up one day. you can redeem the points for gift certs (to buy gas or whatever) or car washes (6000 points - about $6, which is cheaper than paying cash).

there's one at bathurst and wilson (closer to you than the 404).

check this out for more locations: http://sunoco.ca/default.aspx?ID=2389

pricing-wise, Ultra94 will always be at least $0.14/l more than the price on the sign (which is for 87)

US octane rating is the same as Canadian rating (RON+MON)/2. It's the European rating (RON) that's different - typically 4-5 points higher for identical fuel.

It is, but Sunoco 94 also contains 10% ethanol...Shell 91 V-power has no ethanol.

Switching from Sunoco's Ultra 94 to Shell's 91 V-power I noticed a notable power AND fuel economy increase...it was recommended by another car-head and I was skeptical, but indeed it made a difference of almost 100km's per tank on my stock S4, plus it just felt better overall. Been using V-power since.

However, if your chip is for 93 octane, consider calling it's manufacturer and asking if it can adapt to 91. If yes, try out a few different places and see what works.

If no, stick with 94 to be safe.

I never thought this thread will be this much popular. lol
by the way, I got APR Stage 1+. I doubt that will be safe with Shell 91. I guess I gotta call and figure out like KackalS4 mentioned.

    Re: 93 ocatne gas anywhere?

Haha I have 91 and 93 octane files for Stage 1+... I forgot I had 93. How do you switch again? Hold cruise control before starting the car or something?

Haha, maybe I'll fill up with 94 and give it a whirl sometime. I've always used Shell 91 though, as Ethanol is something I avoid, usually.

    Re: 93 ocatne gas anywhere?

I haven't seen Chevron mentioned, out on the west coast Chevron has octane #s ranging from 89 all the way up to 94. My A4 runs on Chevron 92 octane exclusively. I refuse to pump anything else in to my car.....girlfriend thinks I'm nuts!.....IT'S GOT TECHRON BABY! I tell her. lol

    No Chevron stations out east?

No 93 octane in GTA/Toronto and surrounding areas (Markham/Pickering/Downtown/Newmarket/Mississauga etc), anywhere.

Only 94 octane as we know is from Sunoco, and contains the 10% ethanol. So no straight 94 octane...that would be sweet if Petro or Shell got some straight 93/94 octane!

If/when I chip my car, knowing i'm in the Toronto area, i'll be getting a 91 tune for this very reason.

    Re: 93 ocatne gas anywhere?

Unrelated... but Ultramar is awesome. I believe their 91 octane is ethanol free (silver and bronze have 10%), and it is just 9 cents more than regular... and on Thursdays it is 6 cents over regular.

I am going to fill up at Ultramar from now on, whenever I can. They are few and far between, and I am never near one on Thursdays... but I am on Fridays and Saturdays when I work. Everywhere else is 12 cents a litre more for premium (and a Petro the other day had it marked up 16 cents for premium!)... so saving 3 cents a litre over everywhere else (and a total of 6 cents on Thursdays) makes sense to me. 3 cents a litre is more valuable than the airmiles I forfeit. :P

I am saying all this because I think everybody should fill up at Ultramar who uses premium. Send a message to all the other d-bag gas companies.
