knock off mufflers

So i was lookin at these mufflers (link at bottm) on ebay i could get someone to weld piping from dp back 2.5" for a $150. i could buy 2 of these for 50 shipped each. I like the magnaflow but i dont like the 4 " tip its a little to big for my liking and more expensive. Do you guys think these would sound any decent i mean its a straight through design with the same specifications as a magnaflow but its a little longer. These seem like a good price i know its ebay and all, but its only a straight through oval muffler with a core. If i went with these the total would cost me 250 for a full exhuast i already have 3" tips laying around.

dosen't look too bad, your gonna get a gain no matter what if you do 2.5 DP back, When I got myne done, I got 2 magnaflow mufflers, the back hole was in the middle and the exit(where your gonna put the tips) was on the left or right side of the end of the muffler, if that makes since.

I had an OBX muffler on my 1.8T Passat and it sounded very good. Comparable to a Magnaflow, but a little quieter.

i have a test pipe so maybe thats a good thing that they will be a little quieter i plan on not running a resonator

I had a 2.5" cat-back with no resonator on the Passat and it was a perfect volume for me with no drone. I'd imagine it will be the same on an A4.

if you get it, post up pics of the fit/install and a review of the product. i'm (and I am sure lots of others, would be) interested in how this goes.

even if it wears out in 2 years, at 50 shipped you could just replace them on a regular basis!

im gonna get them installed right after they arrive in the mail i just ordered 2 of them and i will gladly take videos of how they sound.I think this would be great for people looking for a good sounding budget muffler

Please do! These could be a great alternative for many of us who don't want to spend the rediculous prices that APR and other charge for their systems.

hmmmm, the item location is SF, i wonder if they allow pickup... $70 for a pair of mufflers sounds pretty good to me. anyone know a good cheap shop in SF/Oakland area that I can get pipes bent/installed?

can't comment on the mufflers them self's, i'm running a 3" Thermal R&D Race system, and when i originally got it i was like "Jesus Christ, 4" is just going to look sooooooo ghetto", but after getting my exhaust installed everything else just looks like a drinking straw and a laugh at them.

get the 4" they fit the stock bumper PERFECTLY, you won't be sorry.
i would take a photo but i have a dent on my back bumper from when i backed into my wife's blazer and just know i would get shit for it from you guys.......

Ya I have APR with 3" I think. Either way im getting 4" tips. Also dont get the rolled edge ones. Thats what I have now and they look cheap. Get dual was or cut style

really tho, look at those and then look at a stock exhaust and you'll be like "WOW, how does any exhaust even manage flow out of those stock tips" lol.

Mine rumbles like a bad motherfu*ker, i just can't get my damn GTRS over 14psi.... that Thermal R&D exhaust is LOUD, and i love it!

trust me Magnaflow's 4in tips are perfect look at mine, but if u do go aftermarket try Silverline same build grade as maganflow and they sound superb for half the price

I don't mind the rolled tip, but double wall looks the sex. "cut tip" to me looks cheap and unfinished. What pat number from silverline? what is their pricing like?

silverline is cheap probably just about the same in terms of pricing and lots of shops carry it, so u can even get it all done at one shop with no ebay in the middle.

so i got the mufflers last week and they look like they are constructed good enough, i just decided on tips and ordered 4" dual wall similar to what the magnaflow comes with, so next monday im gonna get all this installed now my question is what do u guys think i should do, as i have a test pipe (vmr 2.5")and im gonna use the stock downpipe. im going to get new piping back from the downpipe back. Should i get 2.5" back to the mufflers or 2.25 back to the mufflers? The price wont change with what size piping i choose,i plan on goin k04 when my k03 dies

I did 2.5 from the cat, then a y-pipe and continued 2.5 back split into both mufflers, worked well. I'd say open it up as much as possible if your gunna be upgrading to K04 one day

not at all. it sounded very good to my suprise. another friend of ours put them on his gtp and they didnt sound bad on there either. it could be a good alternative to spending a few hundred on name brand stuff. i'll have to try them out when i get around to doing an exhaust
