So me and my fiance are supposed to be moving to Queensland in June. I want to bring my US-spec B5 A4 1.8TQA with me, but it looks like she wil lbe sold before the move.

My question is about the tuning scene here. How is it, as compared to what you've seen of the US? more lenient on mods/sound restriction?

What is there to do? Track Days? Karting?

There is a strong following for the tuning scene in Australia, Queensland is one of the biggest states involved. However here most people tune Japanese cars due to them all being RHD just like us so they are very cheap to import from japan. Lots of Skylines, sylvia's WRX, EVO's, Supra's & RX7 etc around with lots of power. Other wise people here tune local muscle cars Fords, and Holdens. Holden = GMC. V8 power.
Euro tuning scene is extremely small due to the cost, and lack of power. e.g it is very easy to get 300whp out of a 2.0L nissan whereas 300whp from a 2.0 Audi/vw = lots of $$$. There are lots of racetracks for track days and also kart tracks so it just depends where you will be moving to in QLD.

As for as restrictions on mods I think it depends what state in the US you are from. We don't have EPA tests here, and some states don't have their cars checked at all, ever (Vic). Usually Euro tuned cars slip under the radar so you can get away with alot more. the police don't know much about euros. They do check JApanese cars more thoroughly.

Thatnks for the response. I don't know exactly what city our family lives in, but I will know soon. I would love to get a Holden Commodore SS or Silvia S15 when I get there ( yeah I know, broad difference ). In California, everything is extrememly strict. You cannt have a performance part ( enginge wise ) without having a California Air Resources Board sticker on it. And if you do, you get sent to the smog referee. I'll be glad to get away from that.
