    New tires for the USP...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Well after much research and debate between the Continental ContiSportContact 3 and the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, I decided to go with the Continentals. I could not be more please. These tires are much better than the SportContact 2's that they replaced. They handle better in wet conditions and are grippier in dry. They are also so much quieter on the highway.

They are 235/40/18 and were 875.00 Shipped. I paid 80.00 to install them at the Audi dealership here in Atlanta.

Re: New tires for the USP...

contis are crap and always will be. if you like them that's great... but there are much better tires out there for a much better price.

try shopping around a little more next time.

***edit - i actually HIGHLY recommend the new GY eagle GT's. they're cheap, handle well, ride great, are quiet, have a 50k treadwear warranty (LOL - FREE TIRES!), look sweet, and do well rain or shine. I can't speak for their light snow/ice performance yet, but i'll let you know.

Re: New tires for the USP...

they don't handle nearly as well as other tires, get noisy later in life, wear quickly, are VERY expensive by comparison, don't offer the same warranties as other companies, etc etc etc.

shall i go on? i can get into construction and the number of failures/types of failures i see in various tires day in and day out of you want lol. michelin and continental are two companies where it's either all or nothing. and if you're paying for the "all" - you have just wasted money as there's another tire out there that's just as good for less.

Re: New tires for the USP...

superb dry handling with occasional wet would be falken azenis RT-615's (they wear slightly quicker than others because they're very soft), BFG KDW2's, nitto nt555, etc.

balls out performance - i've been VERY happy with my BFG G-force R1's, and have driven other cars on hoosiers and nitto NT555R's and would recommend either.

on more of a budget i usually tell people to steer towards BFG G-force sports, eagle GT's, eagle response edges, nitto invos, and things of that nature. these tires also fall more towards an all season rating without being "weak" in terms of performance.

Re: New tires for the USP...

keep in mind there's certainly more out there than those tires... those are just the ones i've become partial to after driving on so many different tires. I've kinda been steered away from dunlop and yokohama, although i like a few tires that each of them makes. they too wear WAY too quickly for the level of performance that you get and, while they aren't as expensive to replace, still don't come close to the value you get out of some of the other tires i've listed.

value is key, and that's the OVERALL performance of the tire in every aspect.

Re: New tires for the USP...

personally that tire is a waste in that size. it's for the track and that's it... save it for the 17's

i can light up all 4 of my 235/35/19's with those heavy ass wheels on the street... so i opted for some sticky 17's for my rotas on the track... hence i got the R1's

they've got a treadwear rating of 40... so you MIGHT get a couple thousand miles out of them if you try to drive on them daily. lol

Re: New tires for the USP...

B6Lovin', you'll probably say these are crap, but when I bought a set for my previous car they were far and away the best bang for the buck and performed great in all conditions I encountered. These are General exclaim U.H.P (Ultra High Performance) all-seasons made by Continental. I will buy a set for my A4 when I get a 2nd set of wheels.

I've actually heard the price on these has gone up a bit, but that's probably because a ton of people found out what a great tire this is for the money! ....and I thought this would be my little secret!

Re: New tires for the USP...

i have those same tires on my 19's. no qualms with them yet, they aren't the best and they aren't the worst. for the money who can argue.

wasn't aware that continental had bought general, although i suspect that it may be more of a situation like porsche with VAG. they simply took control and didn't really change much other than the cash flow.

    go to sportcompact.com or sportcompactracing.com

do a search in the B6 S4 section, they discussed it there.
