How bout these rotors / pads? ebay

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys. I have about 20% left on my pads and urgently need to replace my rotors/pads asap. They are squeeling pretty bad now.
Spent too much money recently on my suspension and control arms, so no BBK for me yet. Thinking about these from ebay (Power stop) the only brand name rotor I recognized for our cars listed on ebay. Cheap too.

I know there is that guy Adam that sells rotors, but these are a better price and come with pads.

I completely agree, but most of these rotor companies out there offer the same shit but drill them themselves. $260 shipped is a good deal vs. what other options suggested?

I know brakes are something you don't want to skimp on, but I've had Power stop rotors on a previous car and had no issues.

Id get OEM replacements ones over ebay anyday, go with Adams or get some DBAs with hawk pads, you wont look back.

go with DBA or OEM rotors, with good pads, I have had real bad luck with Stop tech OEM replacemnt slotted rotors I would stay away from them, it seems that stop tech quality has taken a dump after centric bought them out,

^^Beat me too it. I was just going to post those. HAHA

Here is the link to the actual rotors:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=260293457746

I have not put them on yet. I am waiting for my pads to get here (tomorrow) and I might be able to put them on tomorrow night. When i do get them on I will go for a nice little "spirited driving" to test them out and will post a review on them. Might even get some video and whatnot for you all. I am thinking though if this company has 100% feedback with over 3100 replies they must be doing something right.

I need new rotors and brakes soon here as well and have been eye'ing up the ebay rotors as well.

good to hear you will post your results. But the better test will be how they are after 5000-10000 miles. So that will take a little time

Honestly. from all the years I've been modding. you dont need ridiculous brakes for daily driving.

    www.brakeplanet.com

or any parts warehouse you can get cheap rotors. stoptech are rebranded centric rotors. its all the same.

I track with centric rotors and i dont have any problems.

    whats important are good pads.

so for those who are talking because ebay is bad blah blah blah. If you can put some real world experience. that would help better than assumptions. : )

    just did a quick search

    Centric Brake Disc
    2000-2002 Audi S4
$34 bucks for the rears. ($68 bucks.)

    http://cpwstore.carpartswholesale.co...294967076+2253

then get front zimmermans for $84 bucks.

peopel tlking about them crackign form high heat. the brakes wont get that hot from daily driving unless your doing high way pulls everyday constantly or your on a track with tons of straights and turns

I would just like to know how these parts can potentionally kill you or hurt you?

There is NO WAY that daily driving rotors will cause cracks/ rotor failure.

please give me anything factual to back up your statements. cause if not your comment is pretty much useless

False, I've seen plenty of people have their rotors crack under simple daily driving... Do not cheapen out on brakes.

neither one of us said that these parts would cause "cracks/rotor failure" or "potentionally kill or hurt" those were just our opinions.... at no point point did i say he would be dumb for buying these. in my opinion i would stick with oe parts or better... i have never heard of that company that he was looking at. and also IMO you should take the stick out of your ass

the person before u said it.

an opinion is an opinion. doesnt mean its a fact. this should be an informative forum. to help each other possibly save money and buy the right products. just cause your buying name brand products doesn't mean much.

think of the Ebay FMIC. everyone was hating on them before they made it big.

take the stick out of my ass? Why you can't engage in a online discussion about car topics that can get a little heated? then im sorry your so sensitive.

but from first hand experience I can tell you right now. on daily driving cars and properly bedding the rotors and pads. you won't see any cracking unless your constantly heating them up then cooling down then heating up.

2 of my good friends both picked up cheap ebay rotors, one for his GTi and the other on his 323. Both have had them crack. So yes, I have seen them first hand from the time they were new. I've also heard lots of different horror stories posted online about people's ebay rotors cracking, this was on a BMW forum though. Now, I'm not saying all ebay rotors are crap and will crack, certainly not true, but stating that there is "no way" they would crack is what is a pretty bold statement as I have personally seen and heard that they have.

I guess I failed to clarify

yes not all parts from ebay are bad. its hit or miss.

headers for the e46 m3 was looked down upon but now its the best cheap mod, or the ebay FMIC for the S4.

what i was refering to was buying cheaper rotors. Such as centric. or zimmerman. Doesn't have to be DBA, OEM, power slot. stop tech, etc.

Yup, I still remember when the E46 ebay headers were all looked down upon. Very true indeed... price =/= quality. Spending more $ doesn't necessarily mean you're getting a better product either

I stick to M3F OT. all day just fooling around.

Sometimes the E46 section starts to get out of hand and we step in and get these new owners off their high bmw m3 horse.

I ordered the Mintex Red pads. Should be here today. I used these on my A4 when I had it and they worked great!

And no I have not installed them yet. I am going to hopefully today. I will let you know when they are on.

For some good pads. try this site out

    http://zeckhausen.com/Audi/S4_B5.htm

For above average street pads and light track pads get the Ferodo 2500s. they are awesome! but for a much heavier car liek the S4 i woudl suggest something more for the track

I've had ebay cross drilled and slotted rotors for about 25k miles. They've been working great.

There is NO WAY that daily driving rotors will cause cracks/ rotor failure.

please give me anything factual to back up your statements. cause if not your comment is pretty much useless
tonggi. i will punch your face.

lets look at your typical broke college student aka s4 owner. drives fast. probably does retarded things much like we all do(i could pull up a few threads about jumping curbs and what not but i need to go shower before class) and has modifications that make the car generally faster no? right. So to have other supporting modifications to keep your unsafe habits as safe as possible seems to be pretty essential. flying around at 100mph on worn shitty stock pads and rotors doesnt sound all too desirable and wasting money on a product that isn't tried and true like the zeckhausen link you posted seems foolish to me. thats all. other than that i will kiss your face(after i punch it) the next time i see you. i miss you greatly.

Yea, it's just not what it used to be. Which sucks because I've been there for years. I don't post there as much as I used to now, sticky mostly yo OT sub forums and such. Oh well...

I've had Brembo drilled rotors warp on my old Eclipse GSX combo with Ceramic/Kevlar in less than 6 months. I have had Adams drilled/slotted zinc plated on my S for 5k and love them, no rust at all either. I have them combo with Audi pads so I get the excessive brake dust, but the high speed braking is the shit! for Adams rotors
