Am I only one of few? (Front Camber Issues)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have only seen a handful of threads that reguard the front camber issues we face when lowering our cars. I have so far went through 2 sets of tires (I am going to swap the fronts around to get a little more life out of them, but that is such a pain to do that ever so often).

the solutions I have found so far

    CPP adj control arms:
It looks like they either went out of business or no longer selling?
    http://www.newdimensions.com/catalog...CPP%20Products

I cant find it for our application -- plus the price is ridiculous its not even worth it rather buy tires ever 6 months. Plus I've read they make a great amount of noise and are really a race application

    kmac bushings
essentially a press in bushing that gives some play to adjust the camber when the bushing is rotated

    auroa bushings
similar to that of the kmacs I dont think it will give enough play to fully adjust the camber issues, but I am not fully educated on this concept either.
    http://www.hrpworld.com/index.cfm?fo...action=product

finally I have read pure ms releasing something not sure if this is it
    http://www.purems.com/products/search.php
but have yet to receive and reviews on it.

whats your input on this? How do you guys deal with this issue?

Re: Am I only one of few? (Front Camber Issues)

CPP and STaSIS stopped selling their ACAs plus they were $700.... KMACs have to be pressed in and apparently are tricky to install..

there is another manufacturer making a new set of ACAs that are supposed to be out around christmas i believe... no idea on price yet

and yes i have the same problem.. on my third set of tires in 40k

CPP has been out of business for a while. Kmac is reputable, but I heard it's hard to fins shops that will press your bushings. Pure MS doesn't release that til the end of the year IIRC

When I lowered my vehicle and went to get it align. They told me that the camber was off and they would adjust it. I have put over 30000 miles on the car since and no tire wear issues. The alignment cost 350.00 though but was worth it.

i don't feel so bad we are in the same boat then. I'm even considering buying really cheap 60/ea tires because of this.

on paper, my set up may seem weird, but when you see it, it looks fine.

I ride 24.25" fender to ground in the front and almost 23" fender to ground in the back.

Before, I was 22.5" all around and when I set it to that, I had about 50% of my tires left. They were down to the metal in about 5k miles.

So far, I've put abotu that same distance on my new tires with my new set up, and they look brand new. The car looks good, it's still DUMPED, it handles very nicely, and i get great tire wear. You can go lower in the back since it does have camber adjustment, and no, my car doesn't look like a pre runner.

If you search hard enough you can find CPP arms. I just bought a set from an AZ member.

SO was the alignment set at the higher or lower setting? if its at the higher setting makes a little more sense, my front is quite low i tuck a bit.

you can even see the camber on that wheel.

any feed back on them Doug?

Re: Am I only one of few? (Front Camber Issues)

I have not installed them. Just got them Tuesday. They will be sitting in their box in my basement until next year when I put coil-overs on. One of those deals that you can't pass up.

I was looking at them and its a simple design. I was thinking about finding a few sources to replicate them so we have adjustable control arms since there aren't really any available.

    ^^^Yes, he really did.

I've found that if you're at OEM Sport height down to 25" (considered track height), there's no uneven tire wear as long as you get the proper alignment. For me, 25" was the lowest I'm willing to go with all of the bad roads around here, so I'm glad the adjustable arms are going to be put to good use.

My alignment was done with the front at 24.225" and the rear at 23".

I tuck in the back and not in the front, but it still looks good. I just realized I haven't posted one single picture since I joined this forum. I need to wash my car BADLY and then I'll take some over the weekend.

...and you got screwed out of $350 for a $100 alignment, congrats. The front camber IS NOT adjustable from the factory.

And the rest of you can stop complaining about your camber.

Yea but you can set your car to a reasonable height do an alignment and drive around like that with a flip of a switch. Where I have to adjust coils

I recall you doing some research that a a6 or a a8 had a adjustable control arm? I was going to look into that.

Hey Doug you might want to look into the applications for those. IIRC they were only made to be run with linear rate springs (because they usually have a smaller diameter).

have you had an alignment since lowering the car? if not i would suggest getting one. if you are eating tires your problem most likely is toe not camber.

Re: Am I only one of few? (Front Camber Issues)

I have camber issues and tire wear as well with my Eibach sportines... but only at the front. Tried doing an alignment twice and still the same, my front tires wear out bad on the inside but not the rear... Called Eibach and they said i would need a camber kit, beacause of non adjustable camber at the front...

I'm about to say screw it and just get coilovers.

Make sure you do an alignment each time you raise/lower.
When you align your car, set the toe to 0.
These tips helped me double the life of my tires.

Im at 24.5 in off the ground with over -1.5 camber (dont remember the exact number)
    , -2 in the back.
