    Leaking coolant and other problems...

I have a few problems that need addressed, and I'll end up going to a shop anyhow as the car is in need service anyways, but was hoping I could get an idea of whats going on and how big of a bill I can expect

First issue is I'm leaking coolant, fairly rapidly. The tank will empty out in apprx 3-4 days after filling. I noticed the leak is dripping somewhere at the back of the engine, just past the belly pan. I can see a pinkish crusty residue around the driveline.

Second issue, I think may be a clutch problem. If I'm crusing along in 4th or 5th gear and decide to accelerate hard, sometimes the rpms will shoot up, boost will build, but the car does not move...as if the clutch is not engaged. I have to let off the gas, let the rpms settle back down, and accelerate gently. However in 1st or 2nd gear, not an issue.

I also have a leaking prop shaft seal. Could this be related to any of the above? What could I expect to pay to have an independant shop take care of all this?

    Thanks.

not too sure about your clutch though it could just be slipping. your coolant leak is most likely coming from the rear coolant flange. i had to replace mine and it was a bitch. no need to pay for it if you don't have too though. here's diy for replacement

I would suggest that you do the vacuum line removal 1st. Once this is done, you can probably install your new rear coolant flange(the cause of the coolant leak in thet rear of your engine ) in about 20mins and save a lot of money in the process

Re: Leaking coolant and other problems...

Thanks for the help guys. After looking at the link you posted, I suspect it is the rear coolant flange. I'll get a quote and see how much it is to replace and decide if it's worth it to do myself. If I had more time to tinker around I could probably take care of most these minor issues that come up from time to time...oh well.
