did the front outer cv boot and the outer clamp slipped off after like a minute of driving. i used a screwdriver type clamp.

question is...how far onto the hub is the boot supposed to be seated before u put the clamp on? on the little groove or past it? thanksss

Re: did cv boot and clamp slipped off????

Had the same problem with my car, got both replaced used the ones that the steeler ship said. and they were junk. Turned left and pop turned right and pop both of them came off went back to the place i got them done and it turns out the oem ones are plastic and dont flex. So i got ones that fit that are rubber. Works like a charm..

so you're saying it's the boot itself that is sheiza....i think i'll clamp the inner one really close in and see if that helps anything. i am not doing this again. those bolts are too big of a pain in the ass and i barely got them back in. Sucks to be my mechanic

CV boot slips off and control arm wont go back in? help please

I am running right now with no clamp on the outer part....not good. hopefully I can figure something out so the clamp doesn't come off.

Question...When i put the 2 upper control arms back into where the pinch bolt goes....I couldn't get my upper rear arm to go all the way into its slot. it sticks up like a quarter of an inch...how bad is this. I know the arm is slightly bent so could that be a reason? is it bad to drive like this? I am going on a 800 mile road trip in a month....thanks
