when winter comes

for those of you with cosmetic mods body kits, hoods etc... that live in harsh winter conditions, do you convert back to stock for the snow and rock salt chips or just leave as is and toss some different wheels on?

yeah upstate new york winters, back roads 20 miles plus everyday, and snow drifts mixed with 19inch wheels would not fair too well

Only cosmetic mod I have is wheels and I keep will keep my 18s on for winter. I want to get a Caractere front but I'm a little gun-shy about it in the winter too

just put my 17 sport wheels back on because they have snow tires mounted I bought cheap.

raise the front a tad bit, just so i can get my alignment better. I need camber kit.

I just got adjustable front control arms. mmmm. Now I need coil-overs.


My plan next year is to put coil-overs on and raise the car for the winter (with an alignment) with my stock 17s on snows and lower it for the summer (with an alignment) with my 18s.

Until then, I'll continue to destroy my S4 bumper and belly pan with my sport suspension and 17s in the winter.

That's what's wrong with your thinking, a car or it's mods are in no way shape or form an "investment". If something happens, charge it to the game, with that said, I leave it low and throw on 18's with proper tires.

The one thing I hate about Koni coils is my rear at the highest is lower than stock sport so raising is pretty much out of the question. Even if I could, i highly doubt I would, I never have on any other slammed car I owned

I'll take off the Cupra front lip, raise the coilovers all the way up (w/ alignment), and put on my beat up B5 S4 17" wheels with winter tires.

too bad that pic is in about 2" of snow. try driving slammed in 8-12" and you'll rip your wheel liners out. on stock sport suspension my wheel wells become completely packed with snow that turns into ice...it's a mess. i stick with 18" wheels and all-season tires though and with quattro my car kicks serious ass.

I raise my coils all the way up & put my 16" stockers back on w/ winters. If I drove my car dumped with the amount of snow we get here I'd be SOL!

I have a house in the Catskills and get plenty of snow in the winter. My USP with 18" wheels does fine in the snow. I don't see what the big deal is.

again that's like 2" of snow. and southeast michigan doesn't really get much overall anyway...it'll rain a day later and everything will melt! all you need in MI is a set of all-season tires.
