Oil around diverter - PICS inside - help!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I posted a while back about oil residue around the boost reservoir and the hoses going into my diverter valve. Here are some pictures. I think I have a leak - my car doesn't seem like it's holding boost like it did the first day or two after going Stage 1.

Can anyone help me diagnose based on these pictures? I haven't done the boost leak test yet - wanted to make sure I know how to plug the PCV first. Martini's writeup shows the PCV on the TIP, and mine isn't like that.

    ...OR...

Is this amount of seepage normal? New gasket? I don't think this is causing the residue around the hoses.

The area around the DV and boost reservoir is where the problem seems to be - the bottom front of the engine.

Anyone know what hose the nasty one is? Without getting under the car I can't tell if that one goes into the 007 or not. It's that general area that has the oil residue.

Thanks for any suggestions!!!!! I'm probably going to do the leak test tomorrow night.

I have this same exact issue.

Looks like the valve cover gasket is seeping a little, but the hose that connects the diverter valve is nasty like in your picture.

I'm experiencing a slightly rough idle and found this when investigating.

crazy thing is some times I start my car and the engine is smooth as glass, other times it's vibrating pretty noticeably.

    It's diving me crazy...

Re: Oil around diverter - PICS inside - help!

I don't have any vibrations or anything. The car is actually extremely smooth - can't even tell it's on when in neutral. Now I'm wondering if I'm imagining that I don't have as much pull/power because I might be driving more conservatively out of paranoia!

I'm going to do the boost leak test in the next day or two. I had to get a coupler and ball valve for my air compressor tonight.

I'm hoping there's a big ol' leak somewhere so that I'll actually have something to fix. Not knowing where all that crap is coming from is driving me nuts.

When I installed the Forge DV I wiped that area down, but I didn't get that nasty hose. I'm going to go back under the car this weekend and see how much stuff came back over the last two weeks.

On 2003 and newer models the PCV on the back of the engine.

You should look into doing this. I did it and it really cleans up the engine bay. Im gonna be helping Bwoy1981 do his here fairly soon.

Time to also install a new VCG

I'd be interested in seeing you guys strip bwoy's bay. Maybe I could do my VCG at the same time.
