The best dv for your money

so im looking to put a new mod on my 1.8t and i hear that a new dv is a good way to go. i also hear from some that a new dv wont give you any increase in hp or tQ, can someone please clarify this for me??! regardless what brand dv is the best for the greens??

Forge 007 is the 'best' if you can call one the best.. it works, and it will last no matter what turbo you throw at your 1.8t.


the function of a dv prevents and HP increase.. it prevents pressure from a closed throttle at boost from reverting to the turbo and causing lag.. a more reliable dv is needed once you add power beyond the stock HP as otherwise the stock DV will tear and not function any longer, and since the A4 uses a recirculating system instead of an atmospheric system it make the car run like shi* with a bad DV instead of just causing lag.

people who *know* they're not going to go any bigger than a chip get a 710N, which holds up to the increased pressure and costs $20-30 less than the forge..

you could even get a used one for a bit less on the classifieds, I'm sure there's one always up for grabs from people upgrading after they get the BT bug.

An aftermarket dv just grants smoother boost. No extra power. But if you chip/flash your ECU, it would be needed as the added pressure will rip the OEM DV. As for brands, use the "search" function as there are many opinions on the matter. I myself use the Forge 007 (if I wanted a louder one, I would have gone with the 004).

004 isn't a dv its a blow off valve. O34 makes a DV that looks exactly like the forge for $95.

710N is the best bang for your buck.
Costs less than half the DV's out there and does the same job.

Forge 007 for the Audi/VW world. SSQ for anything that can handle an atmospheric BOV.

forge 007.. you can pick them up for dirt cheap now. I thinki didnt pay more than 70 bucks for mine like a year and a half ago

710n will work perfectly for more than just chipped. Maxed out K04 and some people w/ T28's use 710n w/out issues.

I would only go baileys etc if you plan on going stg 3 or higher.

switching from 1 DV to another isn't going to make any more noise to be noteworthy, what *does* make more noise is getting rid of the airbox and slapping a cone filter on the maf.

the noise from the DV is from a drastic reduction in parts on the intake. With the stock TIP and airbox there's a lot of pieces absorbing the noise.
Silicone TIP and open element Airfilter will make some noise.

Note, the 710N valve also appears totally stock. Not that it makes a huge difference b/c unlike MK4's we can't really see it easily.

.... the 710N does sound decent when used as a BOV though ... yea, my recirc line got eaten by the A/C belt once.

the difference in response between the diaphram and piston type DV's is so negligable. you will never notice. probably .002 seconds..

and forge/dahlback/bailey/etc is not overkill. if you have too stiff of a spring in it, then maybe..

main reasons to go with an aftermarket piston valve is for 1)looks 2)differing sounds 3)differing recirc/atmospheric settings(forge splitter)

all in all, the 710, sounds pretty much like the rest. and will hold the boost up to BT applications. and they are cheap
