the difference in response between the diaphram and piston type DV's is so negligable. you will never notice. probably .002 seconds..
and forge/dahlback/bailey/etc is not overkill. if you have too stiff of a spring in it, then maybe..
main reasons to go with an aftermarket piston valve is for 1)looks 2)differing sounds 3)differing recirc/atmospheric settings(forge splitter)
all in all, the 710, sounds pretty much like the rest. and will hold the boost up to BT applications. and they are cheap
