how to repair a tear in leather seats??

well, earlier today my dogs claws tore my gf backseat in her avant i was wondering if there are any legit ways to fix a tear in leather while having it not look like crap. its a small tear, only like an inch long, but very noticeable. any help/suggestions are much appreciated. thanks.

There is a good possibility that there is a leather repair specialist somewhere near you like a "DR. Vinyl or "Auto Image" auto dealers use them to repair leather and do dye work to used cars. I've seen them do amazing things. You could call a local dealers sales dept. and ask who they use or reccomend. Leather is very much repairable in most cases, I have a 4 or 5 inch. tear in my driver seat and an entire panel needs to be replaced and I was quoted $75 by a local guy near me and he does excellent work. Just google or look in the yellow pages for any upholstery shop make sure you check it out and see how good the work is first

well, i just used my brain for two seconds and realized that the tear is in the headrest where she tried to jump from the back to the front. where would i go about getting a new headrest? salvage yard i guess??

It was a bad joke - i.e. if the dog matches the interior, and the dog caused the tear, perhaps the dog should give up some hide...

Salvage yard is a very good idea or you can check with car-part.com and it would be your best bet unless you know of any local salvage yards.

Now I think the first question is whether you have actual leather or not. If it's a 2002 1.8t it's probably leatherette (it's perforated). If not it depends on where the tear is. Most A4's only have actual leather in the center part of the seat and the bolsters and other trim is all leatherette (thus why it was called leather seat inserts). Now I realize this doesn't help you much but It might help you in finding a good place or figure out a plan to get this fixed as obviously you can't fix leatherette the same way you fix leather.

nope, mines an 02, hers is an 04 so its real. but what youre saying is that the headrests arent real? no matter though, im just gonna source a new one.

Yeah the headrest is leatherette the only part that is real leather is the part that looks like

The seat centers pretty much and in the back seat that's only the outer seats that feature real leather
