Re: making an s-line grille fit a non-sline

basically they say is really easy u only have to cut the little air ventsin the bumper under the non sline grill ,they say the top screws match up in the non and the sline grill and the bottom of the grill you attach to the bumper with either epoxy or screws i guess it's up to you i asked for more photos.

it looks interesting... cause it makes sence... if you take that little vent piece out of the bumper it looks like it would extend it a perfect amount for the grille to fit... im just scared to bootleg cut my bumper by myself

Re: making an s-line grille fit a non-sline

Well, it was quite a while ago, but from what I remember, the lower pieces were trimmed. And to get a perfect fitment they'd fit it and sand down any uneven spots until the fitment was perfect. What I don't remember is, if the bumper opening changed horizontally...but from the looks of it...it didnt. As far as my stuff, goes, bumpers been in the shop for about 10 weeks now, but it's coming along good...and TT steering is on, but I lost 1 screw that holds the airbag, ordered the screw(4-6 back order from germany, can you believe this!)
    Cheers!

Re: making an s-line grille fit a non-sline

I was looking at mine yesterday and I keep thinking a dremel would be good. I'm also really good at fiberglassing (I repair a lot of boats) so I though that may come in handy. I will 100% start cutting up my bumper once i have some $$ to purchase a new one in case I royaly mess it up

I mean the plastic looks like it wont be a problem with a dremel.

Re: making an s-line grille fit a non-sline

so this could actually be a really easy mod.. i mean all u have to do is dremel some of the bumper off and the grille should fit right in.. then u just need some type of glue or screws to attach the bottom piece of the grille into the bumper...

i think this way seems easier than cutting the actual grille down to fit into the normal bumper

im just kinda worried to cut my bumper at those pieces and then it look all rough and unfinished

Re: making an s-line grille fit a non-sline

i either wanna buy an s4 grille, and dremel that down to fit.. or i wanna dremel my bumper to just make it fit normal.. i cant decide which to do... cutting the grille is much less risky.. BUT having the full grille in there would look much better!

believe or not, but the most daunting part of this whole project for me is taking off my bumper for the first time.. and then the fear of putting it back on and having a nasty gap with the hood

Re: making an s-line grille fit a non-sline

man this is sounding too easy to be true ya know.. so all i need to do is take off my bumper, cut those vent pieces with a dremel, then maybe sand it a little with the dremel...

now im wondering the best way to attach the bottom part of the grille to the bumper... hmm

Re: making an s-line grille fit a non-sline

I'm sure there will be white after cutting but thats so minimal that it won't matter and you can just touch up paint it. Attaching the grill with screws I'd say is the best bet. Some small self tapping screws will 100% do the trick.

Watch all three of us do this at the same time.........that would be funny

Its basically a screw that doesn't need a nut. It has a point on it and a course thread.
