    neuspeed sport springs

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i have searched and read every thread on this but i am still a bit indecisive and want more info... what that being said...

anyone have personal experience with the neuspeed sport springs on a b7? from what i read some had complained about them sagging after a little while and being extremely bouncy??

can someone chime in and tell me how they like theirs??

basically i have eibach springs sitting in my room.. but im scared ill put them on and still want to go a bit lower... (i see sport package bmw's and i feel like my eibachs will look just as low as that but i dont want such a stock look. i want it to look like there was some change to it)

so i have been considering neuspeed but now im reading that they might be veryyyy low and too much for what im looking for so i just want some more info on the neuspeed sports

(please dont tell me to get c/o's, and i know h&r's would prolly be good but i already have the eibachs and the neuspeeds i could get a good deal on so its between these two)

    thanks

wow that thing looks nice and low. only good things to say about my h&r's i know you dont want to hear that. but if you compare yours with the drop my sports gave me, i can tell you i bottom out very rarely and i would have even liked them barely lower for my taste but just my opinion

I'm running Neuspeed sports and Bilstein shocks, they're solid. It's got about 1-1.5 finger gap all around, but I'm running 18s. I was running their race spring with 19s, looks sick, but not so practical IMO

I've worked with Neuspeed springs for about 15 years now and have never had sagging problems. Settling can take a few hundred miles, but the height shouldn't change after that.

"Bouncy" suspension feeling comes from the shocks used, not the springs. If you use a shock that does not have enough damping (or as the shocks wear out), you will get unwanted motions.

Using incorrect shocks can also cause the springs to prematurely wear, which could explain the "sagging" you've heard about. If you use any brand spring with an underdamped shock long enough, it will wear the spring out quicker than a proper setup.

    Re: neuspeed sport springs

sounds good i apprecaite the responses... if i kept the eibach i was going to use the eibach shocks.. but if i take these neuspeeds then ill go bilstein...

im starting to learn towards the neuspeeds now.. .i have the stock 17's so i will deff need some spacers to make that drop look good for the time that im rockin those wheels (which could be a little while)

    Re: neuspeed sport springs

    Well,
I am in exactly the same situation as you. I do not want C/O's, so I have been looking for a spring/shock combo.

I first wanted to get the H&R sport cup kit, but with research, I found out for my car (CVT) there is a serious "Rake" issue. I don't like the rake look. I prefer it to be the same height all around. I really want the H&R's because that is the only kit that will drop the CVT's 2" in the front and 1.7" in the rear. Everything else I have found for the CVT is only 1.4" or 1.5"

I then looked into the Neuspeed springs with Bilstein combo. That will give me 1.5" all around. Much better for my taste. But I am in the same boat as you, I am afraid 1.5" is not going to be low enough. I cannot get the Race springs by Neuspeed as they are not offered for the CVT's, only the Sport springs.

Atop, are you CVT or Quattro? I am assuming Quattro as you are using the Race springs.

I am leaning to the Neuspeed combo. I found MJM has the springs for $199 shipped and Shockwarehouse has the Bilstein Shock/Strut combo for $411 shipped. That is an awesome price for a full complete Cup Kit.

If you have any better deals, please fill me in, I am wanting to purchase mine ASAP.

    Thanks
    Tim

well i wouldnt go based on what these companies 'say' the drop is.. many have posted and reported that its usually different than what they say...

Always use manufacturer listed lowering amounts as estimates. Not all cars sit at exactly the same height from the factory, so the springs will lower more or less what the listed amount is. But as a general rule, Neuspeed springs do tend to lower a little more than estimated.

Are you confusing CVT with FWD? All FWD models use the same springs regardless of transmission type (Tip, CVT, or Manual). Neuspeed uses the same spring kit for all B6 and B7 FWD, so they do have a set for your car that sits relatively level, but may be too low for you:

Wow, that is really just a 1.5" drop from standard suspension? That looks alot lower than 1.5"
How is the ride on that?
That would look awesome with 19's!

Sorry, I didn't specify. Neuspeed Race, 2.0" drop, but actually closer to 2.25". No complaintes here I had a set of 19" Sportec Mono 10 on to test fit, but never took pictures. It looked awesome, but the 35 offset and 235 tires would rub constantly (fenders sat on the tires).

Here is the wheel gap the day after install (before settling):

Installed with stock shocks until Spring time. The ride is firm. When they were first installed, the ride was harsh, but that was mostly in the OEM Goodyears. I now have Bridgestones and the ride is much better.

Right, the Sport springs should sit about 1/2" higher.

You should consider a shock like the KONI that's rebound dampening adjustable. The amount of KONI warranty vs. Bilstein warranty we deal with is not even close in comparison. You might pay a few bucks extra for a KONI Shock (and it's not even much), but you're getting a shock that rides better, lasts longer and offers adjustability that the Bilstein does not. Our NEUSPEED Spring with KONI Sport Shock combo is on sale right now for $674.95 with free shipping.

Its not horrible at all, but it definitely isn't like stock! On my S-line springs my ride was much smoother and more comfortable. I've had mine on for about 5,000 miles (installed at 62,000 ish) And i feel like my shock doesn't rebound or absorb like it use to. Pairing OEM (especially used or non-sport oriented) shocks with sport springs will definitely shorten the lifespan of your shock.

I plan on upgrading to either Koni or Bilstein shocks in the near, near future.

If you have low mileage sport shocks, I'd say for it. But if you don't get a spring/shock combo or get coilovers.
