Michelin PS2 and Pirelli PZeros are both very good summer tires. In CT you may need A/S unless you have a set of winter wheels lying around

    Re: Replacement B7 RS4 tires

Michy PS2 FTW (all around). Pirelli P ZERO if you're a hot lapper (and like buying new tires).

Contis suck at wear and ride. And they're extortionately priced.

best winter tires on the planet, hands down, no exceptions - Nokian Hakkapellita2 (no chance I've spelled that right). I used them on my previous cars (Lexus/Honda/Acura) but not sure they make them for 18" or 19" wheels (18" at least is needed on the RS4)

I just picked up a set of Pirelli Snowsport 240 from a friend in 18" 235/40r18 for my car, and they're supposed to be excellent, but I've not tried them yet. Unfortunately, I'll be trying them in about 2 months (snow)

    Re: Replacement B7 RS4 tires

Winters, I would use Dunlop M3s. Amazing tires and come in 18s and I think some 19" sizes.
The new Conti Sport Contact 3s are not bad actually, night and day difference compared to the old Conti Sport 2s. I would go PS2 route though. They do everything well and last longer then other typical high performance tires. They handle well, rain or dry, are quiet, good ride, and do last. You pay a premium for them, but IMO, its worth it.

    Re: Replacement B7 RS4 tires

I just ordered some Good Year F1 All Season that appear to have pretty agressive tread for snow. From Tire rack for $205 each, 255/35-19.

I don't expect them to be good for the dry pavement, but I live close to the ski areas and have to run through (hopefully this season) lots of packed and un packed snow.

I can say the Michelin Pilots are like a bar of soap on a wet floor in snow.

As soon as it warms back up I'll put the pilots back on.

So it's Michelin PS2, did you get that?

And here am I waiting for my screechy Toyos to wear out. My pre-owner made a small mistake there

    Re: Replacement B7 RS4 tires

I've had Pirelli PZero Rossos (OE from the factory), Michelin PS2s and currently Goodyear F1 Assymetric (in 275/30 x 19 size).

The PZeros were rubbish - good grip but useless life of only 9,000 miles.

PS2 were good and lasted 13,000 miles - but VERY expensive.

The F1s are just as good as the PS2s for grip, give a quieter ride and look great since they fill the arches more. No I don't get any rubbing - I have an RS4 Avant and have just come back from France fully loaded with over 100 bottles of wine with no problems.

haha...just go sell your Toyo tires somewhere (ebay, craigslist) and buy good ones. You might get $250 bucks for the Toyos.

this is one of the best posts I've ever read. hilarious (and good info)

the visual of an RS4 Avant hurtling through france bound for the chunnel with 100 wine bottles rattling about in the back is making my face hurt with laughter!

what a cool car. wish they'd sold it here.

RE01r's are way too heavy for our cars.

Do you know the weight diff? The compound for on the RE01s is great for dual track and street duty if someone is not using R compounds. I was hoping to run the RE01s when I needed new tires, but perhaps I should rethink it if they are really heavy, or I will just have to get one piece forged rims to offset it.

PS2's are apparently the best. I had P Zero Rosso's and LOVED them... except the brutal tread wear.

I have Toyo T1R's now, which have erased my previous hate for Toyo. Really solid all around tires (not sure about in an 18" though, the soft side wall might be more apparent in that size).

    Re: Replacement B7 RS4 tires

Depends on what you're after... If you want ultimate grip get yourself some Advan Neovas, but be ready to replace them quite often. If you want a great year round tire at a great price, the Proxes 4's are very good and I've heard the UHP Avons are quite good. Otherwise the PS2 is a very good tire and suits cars like the S4 very well, but it doesn't do any one thing great. Also, I have to agree another poster, Nokians are the way to go if you can find them in the size you need and want to best winter tire.

    Do you mean 275/30/19?

275/35/19 will definitely not clear the front suspension components and will not fit.

PS2 for Summer tires. If you are considering AS, I would only recommend Bridgestone Potenza AS.

I'm trying the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta as a cheaper option.
