help, my dv sounds like a duck

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
so i put in some new vacume lines, and i could have put my dv back in wrong? its the tt version, but now it will not hold boost, and when it will hold at like 3psi, it just sounds like a duck.

    my engine is stock.

    any ideas?

does it matter what way the dv went it? the way i put it in, the vacuum nipple is facing up.
    why didn't i buy a rs4 gill when they were $60

the pressure side should be going in the way where it pushes down on the diaphram..the idea is that when pressure exceeds the capability of the valve to hold it back it vents back into the system. so the valve side needs to go on the charge-pipe side and the vent side needs to go to the intake pipe side. Hope that helps you tell which way it goes.

for pressure loss of that magnititude I'd check your vaccum lines again, and mabye the ebc as well.

    ^^^ Hahaha

How many miles are on the DV? Could be a torn diaphram flapping around; like the opening of a balloon when you let the air out. Dunno, just a guess.

I installed my 710N valve in backwards just to prove it works both ways. Yes, it works both ways, at least for me it did.

NOT MY IMAGE, but here's the valve installed.

sounds to me like your vac line popped off or is disconnected.

but i still have full boost in 4th and 5th. if my vac line popped off, wouldn't i loose boost in all gears?

that depends on a couple things. if the DV is installed backwards the boost would hold it shut. Installed correctly it would only boost until the positive pressure overcomes the spring inside the DV.

at least if I'm thinking straight
