Just take it back to dealer and have them take care of it. That's what warranties are for

Re: help! noise from the front dash

My rearview mirror rattles/buzzes like crazy. I eventually get so annoyed i smack the mirror and it stops for a little while, but after a decent bump in the road its back. I'm gonna make the dealer replace it on my next visit.

I also had a clicking noise from directly in front of me that was driving me insane. I pulled out the trim below the cluster and above the steering column, and shoved two pieces of cardboard inbetween the cluster and the dash. Problem solved But now i hear rattles comming from the pass side seat, i think from the headrest, and somewhere in the back. I also noticed the subwoofer makes the rear deck rattle on certain songs, and the speakers even make the doors rattle/pop on certain songs (or maybe its just the speakers themselves, who knows) I absolutely hate rattles so this car is going to be real fun for me . Our BMW has no rattles, and you can basically crank the stereo 'till your ears bleed with no distortion (Logic7 system)

My dome light area always rattles. I hate it. My car with 13K on the odometer rattles ALMOST as much as my M3 did. (mind you I said almost because E46 M3's were notorious for rattles)

Re: help! noise from the front dash

I have a rattle coming from the skinny aluminum trim piece in my driver's door panel, but it's only when I go in reverse and only happens when my RPMs are real low.

The rear deck is something I need to fix too, cuz I put a woofer in the trunk and it rattles that speaker grill like crazy. Time to break out the pillow stuffing! By the way, this crap works GREAT for fixing rattles - you can find it all over the place, especially at fabric stores n stuff. You can cram it just about anywhere, and you can make it as dense or as fluffy as you need to. It's easily hidden too; just a friendly tip from someone whose previous car was a rattling-ass '94 Maxima.

    Same noise here

    Hi guys,
I got some similar problem on my 2006 A4, noise/scratch is coming from the left side of the dashboard (driver's side and closer to the windshield) even if the climate is ON/OFF. I took out the dash clocks and checked inside but found nothing. It's more like a plastic scratch which appears sometimes when I'm not accelerating and the road surface is a bit bumpy.
    It's really annoying sometimes.

Oh man, my dome light rattles like it's its job. Drives me bonkers. And there's something in my back seat that rattles off and on.

The sound coming from the dash near the instrument cluster is unique to our 2.0T Quattro cars. It is most likely the tappet style high pressure fuel pump that is located on the driver side fire wall causing the muted buzzing/clicking sound.

I have a B7 2008 A4 3.2 and a terribly annoying intermittent buzzing rattle that occurs most often when driving over 50MPH. It sound like its coming from the tweeter, door, ac vent or front left dash corner. The dealer replaced the AC Vent. That didn't do it. I pulled the door molding off and found a very loose screw / washer. Tightened that up. That didn't do it. I am feigning to find this bugger of an annoying noise. Subtracting from the pleasure of driving such a great car.

Your name wouldn't happen to be... "Peter Mayhew", would it?

Yes, I did bother searching. Extensively. For hours and hours reading all the threads I can.

Took a short drive tonight and didn't hear it. If the noise comes back after all the other things I've done, Per finding another thread with the title you mentioned, I understand the window actuator wire and speaker wire are also known to intermittently vibrate causing a similarly described buzzing / rattle noise. And another member wrote me back and shared how they had metal clips under their steering wheel that are known to rattle. He used "Reflectix" from Lowes. Will have to open up the driver side door to check out both (if necessary).

May "the force" be with you Wookie.

After taking apart my front driver side door this afternoon, with various thread suggestions and still a rattle... I returned to my garage, and while tapping on the fuse box panel heard a reproduction of the same rattle, buzzing, fly, mosquito sound. I took apart the panel under the steering wheel and found a wire with a label on it that was positioned just on top of some squared metal and it was producing the same sound. I wrapped the label around the bundled wire cable with a piece of tape and away from the metal it was vibrating against. Buttoned everything back up. Tapped on the fuse box area and "no buzzing noise". Hopefully this is helpful for someone else.

I HAVE PULLED THAT F'ING thing apart so many times and if it is a freaking wire tag im going to just take a sledge hammer to my dash. 12k and no solution. The local dealer has found many "loose" clips but still it persists. Im going to check mine in the morning hope to god its not this.
