    Re: Airbag light

buy a 4.7ohm resistor and plug it into the airbag connector and the light will go off

    Re: Airbag light

If you want that airbag to work then don't use a resistor. Here is a picture of the connection under the seat. Basically disconnect that pink/purple plug, clean the prongs with some brake/electrical cleaner (I used a Qtip soaked in cleaner to avoid making a mess) and stick it back together. I also used some hockey tape as opposed to a zip tie to make sure it stays properly connected. Nearly two years later, no airbag light.

A word of warning is that I was paranoid and disconnected my battery before doing this. It may or may not be necessary but I took the precaution. Make sure you have your radio code if you do decide to disconnect the battery. Oh and you'll have to slide your seat out of the rails to get better access to the connection... that's the hardest part of this 'repair'.

    Cheers,

    Re: Airbag light

Thanks man, but none of my air bags will work or just the passenger side with the resistor?

    Re: Airbag light

same thing going on with my 98. when the giac dealer chipped me her vaged my car and got the resistance too high thing too. Although I think it was in both airbags. I wonder what would cause BOTH connectors to get dirty simultaneously...

I'm gonna give this a try.

    Re: Airbag light

Rhinop21: Just the one with the resistor since it will be disconnected.

A4Gasm: I don't think it has much to do with the connectors getting dirty, just that the connection becomes loose. I cleaned them for the heck of it, but likely just making the connection more secure, through zip-ties or tape, is what does the trick.
