sounds like your talking about a HEATSHIELD, it's not an intake instead a peice to sheild the heat from getting to your intake.

Save yourself the money on an intake. The only gain you'll get is the ability to hear the woosh of the turbo. I'll find you the very recent thread on the discussion of this.

Yea, I got a Carbonio intake on my B5. Definitley not even worth the 200 I paid used. Fitment sucked and its so basic its just a filter, a heat shield and a carbon fiber top. Just do the airbox mod.

    Re: looking for an intake

Here is a picture of what I think you are talking about. It came with the car, but I know the previous owner purchased it from someone on this forum. Can't see other side but it is the diamond pattern you are talking about.

I had HKS cone filter in there and finally found modified stock airbox. DON'T use some crappy cone filter unless you need to remove the stock airbox to make room for a big turbo. I left the heatshield in anyways since it seemed to fit w/ airbox in place..

It goes all the way back to the firewall w/ opening for the few lines that are back there, hole in the front for airbox ducting is perfect too.
