    Muffler/exhaust help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

I need a new left muffler on 2003 Audi A4 1.8t. The Audi Dealer is asking for 500.00 to replace it. I found complete AUDI S4 OEM CATBACK exhaust on Craigslist for $200. I am tempting to purchase it and just have Midas install it for me, but
I have a few questions. Also, please take a look at the ad on craigslist http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/867990847.html

    1. Can I install S4 exhaust parts on an A4?
    2. Can I get away with installing just the left muffler from the S4 or do I have to install the full S4 exhaust?

    Re: Muffler/exhaust help

Where can i buy megnaflows and how much? I am not too crazy about enhancing the exhuast. I am just looking for the cheapest route?

And $500 for just the left muffler is insane...

    Re: Muffler/exhaust help

Go to hottexhaust.com . I got the Magnaflow 14851's (Race). Took them to a custom exhaust shop and got a custom exhaust done for $300. And yes, $500 is outrageous for a single muffler.

    Re: Muffler/exhaust help

Then get the magnaflows and keep the stock resonator and piping sizes. That will probably be the cheapest and sound better without a lot more noise. I saw a link here before for the mufflers for about $100 each

    Re: Muffler/exhaust help

i've seen a few videos on here of people with S4 exhausts on their A4 and it really sound horrible. not even close to what it sounded like on an S4, and definitely nothing to be proud of when put onto the A4. honestly just replace the OEM muffler or get a new magnaflow system. you can even just replace both magnaflow 14851 mufflers for $210 shipped from performancepeddler.com....you'll have to call them for that price though.

    Re: Muffler/exhaust help

I will have to search for audio and video clips of the magnaflow 14851 on an A4.
I want something to sound nice, but close to stock.

Nothing irritates me more than the kids with cars that have loud mufflers and the car doesn even move fast at all....

I open to any other suggestions. Thanks for the help

    Re: Muffler/exhaust help

^ magnaflow 14829s are the street series and quieter than 14851s.
