So my new podi gauge beeps to.......GEERRAATTT!!!!!

Couple months ago, I posted how my podi gauge would beep everytime my car shut off.......worked something out w/ Winston, he agreed to personally check the gauge he was sending me on his A4 to ensure it did not have the annoying beeping issue. A month or so has gone by and I finally get my old gauge off, plug the new one in and................IT BEEPS!!!!!

I was feeling adventorous and was thinking of dissembling the gauge so I could remove the tiny speaker, problem solved. But then I realized I have no clue what I'm fvcking doing!!! Worst yet, I didn't even do the wiring, a shop did, so I am assuming they did it correctly, this is the only other problem I can think of, unless the gauge was never tested before sent out to me and I got another bad gauge!!

it only happens when you turn the car off....after i posted something, a few other people said theirs did it as well....winston said it is not normal

I'm working with the manufacturer to get this fixed and most likely I'll replace ALL BEEPING GAUGES with the new stepper motor gauge that is coming out soon.

Probably, I have the bad luck of being sent another bad gauge, or maybe the wiring job done by my local indy shop is affecting it, i duno......any know how feasible it is to just open up this little puppy and remove that damned speaker??

If your gauge 'buzzes' you have a mechanical gauge which is totally different than the electronic gauge here.

If you have not seen the thread which I posted with the solution to the beeping issues it is as follows:

Connect the red and yellow wires together to the switched 12V power source and the beeping issue will go away.

This solution has been done by many people already and has been proven to work.

mine beeps too, has since I installed it, I don't even notice it anymore.

The settings are stored in the gauge when set and does not lose them when the gauge is turned off.

If this was not the case I am sure I would have heard about it a long time ago from gauge owners.

Funny you say that because I think I've got use to it. I know how to fix it, but I"m too lazy/it's not annoying enough for me to fix it.

Whats the word on the replacement?? Im trying to figure out how to get mine to stop as we speak.... I've taken the yellow wire under the dash and attached it to the red wire but this causes the gauge to not work at all... ugh... guess i'll have to keep messing with it...

When I wired up the new gauge, I connected the yellow and red wire from the gauge harness with the red wire from the sending unit. These wires were then connected to the 75x terminal as outlined in the AWE boost gauge installation pdf. No beeping at all and it works like a charm.

Word on the street and in my car . It's a nice gauge, but I'm actually getting rid of it for Winston's mechanical.. I like the simple mechanical gauge more than the fancy electrical. . Have enough electronics in the S4 IMHO.

It beeps when you turn the car on/off...its not like it beeps constantly or the needle gets stuck sometimes. Nobody is asking you to live with a half-assed product.

Man...it is so annoying when my car makes a sound when I put the key in the ignition. Screw Audi for making a half-assed product because I find a small sound feature built into the product to be annoying. /sarcasm

An initialize/de-initialize tone defines a product as half-ass IMO is anal.

Its all personal opinion...I do think it's rather anal to get so worked up over it, but thats just me. I guess it might be different if I actually had an extra beep in my car, but I'd probably make up a cool lie to go along with the beep and let people think it was something more special than a gauge beep that really pisses me off..

yeah most people could... However, its a series of beeps and flashes, i'm guessing its either some sort of shut down check the gauge does or its just doing the series of beeps it would do at the the preset boost peak alarm, or its alarming because the sensor stopped recieving input and the needle is showing 30"hg.... you do get used to it, its just slightly less than desirable...

No one is saying its not a good set up, i'm very happy with the podi system, its just one side effect that it has... Only changes i'd like to see is that the pod is not so deep so you could have full adjustment of the steering wheel, unlike the analog gauges the stepper motors are very thing and only use maybe a quarter of the depth of the pod. I also prefer this gauge for the ease of installation, all of the plumbing is under the hood, no vacuum lines are running all the way to the cabin.

I agree, I just ordered one and I am noticing how much space is wasted there.
I know there would be alot of added cost for more R&D and supply etc..

The pods were designed to be used with 52mm mechanical gauges.

The nice thin electronic gauges that you see now were not an option back then.
