    Brake question

Are the brakes on the b6 a4 1.8tQ supposed to feel soft [no-resistance] up until about 1/2 depression?

A couple of my friends say that my brakes feel spongy and that I should get them replaced.

Compared to driving other cars, my brake travel does seem excessive.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Re: Brake question

Mine feel pretty firm, I probably have 70% brake pads left. I am running OEM sized x-drilled rotors and stock calipers. You might want to get your brakes checked, it sounds like there might be some air trapped in your brake lines or you should check your brake fluid level.

    Re: Brake question

i have noticed a very "progressive" feel on a number of audis I have driven. I always attributed it as an audi characteristic. nice gentle feel with slight depression, but a good amount of grab once you get on it.

maybe they all had air in the lines? i don't think so, i really do think it is just the way the brake assist is designed. i personally like it, though it did take a couple days to get used to.

that said, i am probably due for a brake fluid flush, curious to see if there is a pedal feel difference after that.

Firm and touchy as shit for me. But that's what you get when you have Stoptechs on the front and SS lines all around

But it will be a little spongy feeling but yes, check your rotors, pads and fluid.

    Re: Brake question

Do you know how to do a brake bleed? it's fairly cheap if you do it yourself, so worth a shot to make sure there's no air in your lines.

    I wish I did.

I scheduled service for this thursday - well actually, my parents did because they got all worried when I mentioned me bleeding the brakes and such, so with the brakes being checked, and my brake lights being inspected for gremlins, it should be a fun thursday.

    I'll keep it updated.

    Thanks all
