    Is something collapsing under boost???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Got the +1 about 3 weeks ago and i noticed a small issue right away. I wanted to wait a few weeks before asking you guys hoping it would correct itself or i would figure it out.

At WOT in 1st gear (only in 1st), the car would experience ONE shudder/pause/choke at exactly 3800 rpm, then take off (well, as fast as a 1+ could ). Bottomline is, the car has a pronounced pause in accleration just as full boost is achieved.

It feels like something is collapsing under boost. I have a NEUSPEED Xtreme TIP so i'm pretty sure that's not it.

So, what is the next step? Samco Silicon hoses?

Note: If i go about 85% throttle, then punch it around the same rpm (3500-3800), this does not happen.

    TIA!

Re: You think something is collapsing under boost???

you may have a hole or tear in your TIP. i experienced the exact same thing, and it was because of a tear in my TIP, replaced it, and everything was hunky dory. this also caused me to lose 2 coil-packs as well, so after you replace it, you might look at replacing some of those as well. but my bet would be your TIP is bad, or not sealed, or has a hole...etc.

Hmm, a TIP tear causing a complete halt in acceleration. I'm trying to see how that would cause this type of effect.

I should have mentioned that this abrupt halt in accel is very acute, it's only a split second, then the car shoots forward. It could be described as 1 "Hard Buck".

This would happen on my first (and every) pull, so I don' think it's the heatsoak, thanks though

    Hmm interesting

I have exactly the same mods as you + An apikol SMIC - the TIP
and Ive never had any "Shudder" or "Pause" during full WOT in 1st - 5th

Maybe its time to do some logging with the VAG...Seems like the car is pulling some timing

The guys at RPI said it could be a misfire, so i'll get them to Vag Com it asap. Thanks guys

Hot days? I'm in Vancouver, we have cold and arctic .

J/k, I doubt it's a heatsoak issue for now since this happens even on my first pull after start, and every pull after.

yup, thats exactly what i experience, its thru acceleration, as soon as i hit 3800rpm/full boost, it felt like it stuttered for just a brief moment, almost felt like a misfire, and then would keep going.

Re: Is something collapsing under boost???

OP, try a hose clamp or two around the TIP. It will help to keep it's shape and not
    collapse under boost.

Man... I thought the Neuspeed one was the best, it sure demands a price that would make one expect the best!

I'll try the clamp thing, thanks!

Re: Is something collapsing under boost???

I had the same issue. I changed plugs and put 4 new Hitachi coil packs but it continued at WOT. A new fuel filter seemed to alleviate it for me however so it may be a fueling problem...

Re: Is something collapsing under boost???

The guys at RPI suggested a new fuel filter too. I'll do that too, my oil change is almost coming up, perfect timing, thanks.
