I always thought the RS4 was way overpriced to begin with, but I was stupid and spent the money. OK, my fault, bend over and take the depreciation hit for a nice, somewhat rare car, right? But now, after 25,000 miles, the tires are shot (even though I had winter wheels and tires on for 5-6 months), the front brake pads and rotors need to be replaced (the rotors have multiple grooves worn into them after 1.5 years of driving????), a coil pack just needed to be replaced the other day after the engine started misfiring, and absolutely everything inside the car squeaks. No, I don't beat the snot out of my car, I'm in my mid 30's with a 2.5 y/o son in the suburbs, I'm about as boring as you get.
For the depreciation hit alone I could have bought a perfectly fine Honda Civic that wouldn't require $1500 of new front brakes and $1000 of new tires within a year and a half of ownership, and I wouldn't have had to worry about every M3, C63, IS-F, STI, Evo, juiced A4, S4 or whatever else on the road wanting to race. At least it helps to avoid the embarassment of losing (face it, the RS4 is slow--it may have other virtues, but quickness isn't one of them) when you can point to an occupied toddler seat in the back.
Does anyone else ever just get sick of it?
