sorry for the x-post from the B7 chatterbox. This was probably the better place for this post.....

I am considering buying an 05.5 A4 Avant that is in Boca Raton and was wondering if anyone here is close by and would be willing to stop by and check it out for me.

I'd be happy to buy you a beer next time you are in utah (ha!), send you some coffee that i roast, give you $$ for gas and time.... besides it would be great audi karma points and you have a chance to check out another audi . I'd also appreciate ideas about where the car could be taken for a pre-purchase inspection- either reputable dealership or independent shop.

I thought it looked like Scott's car which would have been a very well cared for car. I have not seen too many avants down here so it could still be his. Are you just looking for some one to take a look at it in person?

yes... I was hoping someone nearby could pop over and take it for a spin and generally give it a quick once over for me.

I am also looking for a decent shop to do a prepurchase inspection- Champion Audi wants 270.00!!! Know of any other shops nearby?

actually just called Braman Audi and they can do it for 135.00 which seems more reasonable.

I would not let braman change a light bulb on my car! They are a an untrustworthy dealer. You may as well just buy it not inspected before paying braman to do it, as I'm sure it will be a waste of money!

Basically they are saying it will take one hour and champion is going to take two.

I'm may be biased but I had dealings with three braman dealerships, Audi, BMW, and Honda and I have a story for each. the quick versions, the Audi dealer dropped my moms A6 off the lift because of carelessness, but the denied it happened, then claimed they only scratched the rust proofing, but not the ripped side skirt.
As for Bmw my uncle brought his perfectly running 540 in for an oil change when he got it back the trip computer was not working. When he took it back they claimed that he must have washed the engine and damaged the unit. Knowing that was BS he said no and took the car home a couple of weeks later he took it another dealer to get a quote for the ecu, they open the hood and told him that the ecu was unplugged, and furthermore it could not possibly have come loose some one had to undo it.

If I broke down in palm beach I would push my car to champion rather than let Braman fix it for free!

if my vag com laptop battery was not dead I would offer to check it for codes and give it a quick once over.

thanks for that info on Braman.... I certainly was not impressed talking to the service person BUT after much searching I could not find any other options.

The owner did take it in this morning and they located a couple of small issues (battery, wipers, and dirty air filter), including an alignment problem which the owner thinks is wrong.... and now hearing your story, i'd be likely to agree. But I am purchasing from a distance and really have no other choice at this point so we will have the car re-aligned anyways just to be sure there are no major problems.

if you had some time I would certainly appreciate a third party objective once over and test drive . I am feeling pretty good about the car but one more set of eyes certainly couldn't hurt!

hey thanks anyways.... the seller was pretty busy today and we are pretty much in the final stages of the sale so at this point i am feeling pretty good. In fact he is taking it to champion to have them align it (although he is betting there is nothing wrong with the alignment and that braman was way off mark)....
